The Tour de France is well underway, and later this year, one of the competition's greatest races is being re-staged live at our theatre in the must see show - Ventoux.
Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani's drug-fuelled race in 2000 comes to life in this production which charts the parallel lives of these champions who overcame great adversity in tandem, and the mountain that cast them in opposing directions.

What an amazing show we watched today in a beautiful venue. Beauty and the Beast was FAB and not only did my wife and I love it but so did our ten, nine and 2 1/2 year old kids.

User

We came to see the show last night, fantastic family night out, brilliant songs , cast and set, really friendly staff, lovely theatre, we will be coming back to see a show soon .

User

Spamalot was great fun and I had a brilliant time, lots of laughs. My congratulations to everyone involved, excellent.

The venue is beautiful and the staff are all nice!

User

My husband,me and two kids 10 and 5 went to watch Beuaty and the beast today I must say it was so good we all enjoyed it very much can’t wait for next years Peter Pan

User

My daughter & I had a fantastic evening with friends at the opening night of Beauty & the beast. The cast, costumes & dances were all brilliant. Timothy Lucas as Fredrick was the best character I have even seen on stage, he really was amazing & made my evening. I had tears from laughing.

The theatre as always was its beautiful self, lots of leg room in the stalls, looking forward to next time.

User

Lovely theatre, We loved the Beauty and the Beast show, and the Nutcracker ballet the Christmas before was lovely as well, can't wait to see Morgan and West with my 7 year old in may

User

Loved it had lots of pompey references and pops at Southampton realy funny and great songs

User

Last night was my first time at the New Theatre Royal. I watched Spamalot with one of my friends.

The acting was very good, and the show was very funny! :) The seats were comfortable to sit in as well. The music that played during the scenes matched the situation the characters they were in.

I most likely will come again if another show catches my interest. :)

User

I saw beauty and the beast tonight, Nothing to do with the film but it’s still an amazing show! Well worth watching that’s for sure good show!

User

I attended last night to watch 'the woman in black' and me and my husband had an amazing evening. The theatre was beautiful and felt magickal, just how you want a theatre to feel . The play was terrific and the actors were very talented. We were both pleasantly terrified and left the building smiling. We are looking to attend again and support our own local theatre more often.

Only 1 small downside, and I mean small as it wasn't a huge drawback . That is there was not a lot of toilets to be used so there was quite a queu luckily I'm very British and very very used to waiting in queues, lol

User

Great performance of West Side Story by Portsmouths Dramatic and Musical society. Well done to all and great to have a live orchestra. Really enjoyed the whole show

User

Beautifully restored Frank Matcham theatre new seating in the stalls gives more leg room and comfort tan the original Victorian "bucket" seats. Friendly staff but beware the cost of parking nearby.

User

Amazing pantomime; everyone was so helpful making my elderly aunt's visit to the theatre easy and safe.

Wonderful people and nothing was too much trouble - thank you so much

User

Saw beauty and the beast tonight and really liked it, perfect date night for my girl

User

My and my partner watched the show on Saturday 16th of December at 6pm. We liked it a lot, even though it wasn't the original play of Beauty and the Beast but an alternative version of it in Portsmouth (!?!). The actors were brilliant and funny and the music and songs superb. Well done boys and girls! The lighting effects were very nice as well. We recommend this show to all kind of audience, be it boys, girls, men or women. Especially to those who like a comedy-like musical. Thumbs up!

User

I love the staff !! Seen Joseph there at 5 -8 ! First we seat upper circle but for the uncomfortable seats £33 was too much no wonder wasn't sold out !! A £25 it will be just right ! Anyway!! At 8 o'clock the atmosphere for Joseph was electric ! Beautiful atmosphere! 2nd row stalls for the same price £33 can make a big difference! No complaints 😀 After all thank you for having us !!untill next time !! 😉All the way from London !! And 1 more thing ! A child should have a special price not same as the adults !! And I do not have kids but must be hard for a mother if has 2-3 kids to bring them ..

User

Went to watch Russel Kane last night and was impressed with the venue, lovely bar, great selection of drinks etc, nice staff, clean, all nice and modern. Inside the seats we're comfy, theatre look amazing.

But..........

3 toilets for men??? What?? I waited 15mins to go to the toilet, just for a number 1.

Come on, what's that all about, my mrs went faster than me???

You have to sort this out, a simple thing that's letting you down and ruined my nearly perfect experience of your theatre .

User

We came to the New Theatre Royal to watch Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. If I were reviewing the show it is an easy 5*.

I am only giving 3* for the theatre based on our last impression from a member of their staff.

We could not fault our arrival and felt welcome while having a pre show drink for the evening show on Saturday and our seats were comfortable and plenty of leg room which was a pleasant surprise.

We had debated prior to the show when buying the programme whether to purchase the accompanying cd of the show. We decided to hold off until we had watched the performance before making our decision to see if it was better than our current one which is from the Jason Donovan era. The performance was fantastic and we planned to buy the cd as we left.

Disappointingly when returning to the foyer everything had been packed away. We spoke to a member of staff who was dismissive and said we could probably pick up on Amazon. Not the same effect when all we wanted to do was to carry on our experience in the car on the way home.

Asked if the staff member could have a quick look for us we were met with a simple, no sorry.

Such a shame. Not looking for anyone to go above and beyond in their duty of customer service just a little help. What I would have expected to hear was 'if you don't mind waiting I will go and have a look for you' but sadly not.

There are some great shows planned in this lovely looking theatre I hope a little more focus is shown towards future customers.

User

Lovely old theatre, watched spamalot, which was brilliant, well what I could see of it. There was a man in front of me who had a massive head and was tall. I paid £38 for my ticket, we were in the 4th row. Obviously it isn’t the theatres fault that a big man was in front of me, but there is no increasing gradient in the first 5 rows, so there is a good chance your view will be blocked. Should be a warning about it or the tickets in these rows shouldn’t be so expensive.
