Newcastle University Orthosoc Description
We are the newly restored Orthopaedic society, here to help guide you on the first few steps towards your future surgical careers! For too long this glorious specialty has been overlooked by the medical school curriculum despite being one of the few where starting early makes a difference.
AIMS
Regularly get involved in the teaching of Orthopaedic based topics such as
- anatomy
- regional musculoskeletal examination
- surgical skills incl. scrubbing, suturing, knot tying, use of specialist equipment
- X-ray interpretation
Close links to local surgeons and aim to bring you opportunity to experience theatre first-hand with the potential to assist in the surgery.
Expert advice from orthopaedic trainees who have recently been through the application processes on how to get started on relevant CV building as early as possible, to aid you in the long journey to orthopaedic consultancy.
Raise awareness about the variety of sub-specialties within Orthopaedics via specialist speaker evenings.
