About Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre

The centre offers a focused A Level curriculum with the opportunity for academic students to study in a dedicated sixth form centre.

Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre Description

NCS is the academic A Level centre of a group of Newham Schools – Cumberland, Kingsford, Langdon, Lister, Little Ilford, Plashet, Rokeby, Royal Docks, Sarah Bonnell – and Stratford School Academy, working in partnership with Newham Council.

The centre will offer a focused A Level curriculum from September 2014, and the opportunity for academic students to study in a dedicated sixth form centre with a specialism in Science & Mathematics.

NCS will have a maximum of 500 students – 250 in each year group - and will provide a stimulating education and personalised curriculum within a supportive environment in which students will be encouraged to stretch themselves to achieve their potential.

Expert sixth form staff will provide students with high-quality teaching and learning experiences and the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities alongside their academic study which will broaden their knowledge and skills, and enhance their study or employment applications.

The A Level Curriculum and the extra-curricular programme are focused on preparing students for progression to selective and Russell Group universities, and the NCS A Level programme focuses on the core and facilitating subjects preferred by selective universities.

The centre will be based in historic buildings on the East Ham Town Hall Civic Campus.
The prestigious Grade 2* listed buildings are being fully renovated and equipped ready for September 2014. This will enable NCS to provide high-quality, dedicated facilities for students, including nine new laboratories for the teaching of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology and a specialised Mathematics centre.

Applications for September 2014 can be made via the application section of this website
from 2nd January 2014.

The NCS team will be visiting partner schools in November 2013, and there will also be two information evenings for the general public and external applicants in November 2013 at East Ham Town Hall.
