Parents drop in afternoon today from 2.45. Come and visit your child’s current classroom and the one they will be moving to in September. Presentations and question & answer sessions will be running until 4.15 pm

It’s the school fete tomorrow at 3.30 on the field. There are lots of fabulous stalls, games and refreshments. Bring your friends and family! Thank you for all the brilliant donations from the non-uniform day - you are wonderful !
All we are needing now are plants and cakes if you are able to help with either of these please bring or send them in tomorrow. Thank you.
Just to remind parents - there are no clubs tomorrow - ... (apart from choir - this club is happening because they are practising and then performing at the fete).
All children apart from choir and the older prefects that have been asked to help on a side show, should be collected from classrooms as normal to go the fete with their parents.

Some lovely, generous parents have brought ice pops in for the pupils because of the heatwave. We have classes out on trips this week but Thursday we are all in school so we would like to give them out then as a special treat. However, before we do we need parental permission, so could parents please let the class teacher or the office know tomorrow that it is ok for their child to have ice lollies at school. Thank you!
Mr Harris was extremely proud of our yr 5&6 BOYS football team who competed in the primary all stars World Cup (as England) yesterday in the blistering heat. We progressed into the cup final after winning 5, drawing 2 and losing 1 league game. We played against Brazil (Bassett Green) in the final who we had previously drawn 3-3 with. Although we played well and created lots of opportunities we were eventually beaten by the very strong Brazilians. Meaning we finished 2nd in an extremely competitive competition of a high standard. GO TEAM NEWLANDS!

School is closed today as we have an inset day for staff training.
A big thank you to everyone who responded to the Ofsted Surveys or spoke to the inspectors over the last two days. Your support for the school is very much appreciated. The inspectors have now left us and will prepare their report which will be shared with staff, parents and pupils in due course.
May we also remind parents that we have an inset day on Friday this week and School will be closed for pupils.

There was an incident in the local area, in the street, this morning, unrelated to our pupils or the school. The police attended and the school went into a temporary external lockdown for the duration as a precautionary measure. The children were unaware of the incident and safe at all times.
Look what some of our pupils did yesterday! Big thanks to Saints and to Miss Frampton and Mr Day for taking them.

Just to clarify the incident happened on the way to school and not on the school site.
There was an incident this morning where a child was approached by an unknown male on the way to school. The child reported this to adults straightaway and we have reported this to the police. The children have been spoken to about 'Stranger Danger' this afternoon and the importance of alerting someone immediately if they are approached. Please remind your children about not talking to strangers and letting family and school know if anything happens.
