We are delighted to announce that, subject to ratification from Eastern Counties Rugby Union, #nrufc1st has been offered promotion from Eastern Counties 1 West to London 3 Eastern Counties.
This is a great result for the players and coaches. We'd also like to thank our home & travelling supporters and our sponsors for their support and encouragement. More details to follow. 💚🖤

With the announcement of the Easter Honours List, we are delighted to offer our congratulations to our Director of Rugby on the award of his Order of the Garter. Peter Boyle, our Club stalwart, is an immensely popular character here at NRUFC and fully deserves this recognition.
As most members of the Club will know, Peter is a man of many talents and lives permanently in the clubhouse, much to the delight of his family. Nothing is too much for PB and on match days he will... service, and then wash, the 1st XV players' cars. After the match, he will offer his expertise as a vintner and brewer on the best beverage to go with the meal.
Club Chairman, Lord Harvington, acknowledged Boyle's contribution by offering him the Club's highest award, Freedom of the Scaltback Playing Field. He said "Boyle is just the type of chap one needs. His recent new YouTube channel on fitness is an example of his commitment. Fortunately, I was able to convince him to use a green & black leotard instead of his flesh coloured mankini."

Message from Club Head Coach Martyn Wall
As you may have heard, the rugby season has been officially declared over. We will wait to hear in the next few weeks which league we will be playing in next season and whether we can play our cup final at some point.
I would just like to say to everyone involved at the club, players, support staff, and coaches a massive thank you for all your hard work. We finished top of the league and in a cup final, and played some good rugby. The... team and squad is growing all the time and it’s been my pleasure to be involved with you all. More relevant than ever, the team spirit you guys created is immense and we will come through this period and go again. The club is in a strong place and we must look forward to regrouping and striving to achieve even more in the near future.
Finally, the biggest thanks go to the supporters at the club. You have been awesome all season and it really makes it all worthwhile to see so many of you there to cheer the team on, home and away, rain or shine.
So I thank you all, be safe and we will get back to playing rugby and going forward again soon.

England Rugby has today confirmed that all matches and secondary competitions will be suspended for the next five weeks. This also extends to training and social gatherings.
At this stage, Eastern Counties rugby have not fixed dates on which the affected matches can be rearranged. We will continue to work closely with EC rugby and Public Health England, and to follow the advice of medical experts and make further clarifications as soon as they are able.
As this unprecedented... situation continues to unfold, our main priority must be to protect public health and prevent further spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
We will keep you updated as we learn more
Stay safe folks and reach out to help the rugby family where you can!

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE
All, as you will be well aware, Coronavirus response in the UK is escalating as the number of people infected rises.
Currently we plan to continue with our fixture list, although this will be reviewed at any change of advice from the Government & NHS. Please watch this space for updates as the situation is changing on an hourly basis.
... In the meantime, any family (players, or other family members) should follow current advice and stay home for 7 days if you have any cold or flu symptoms, or are returning from a high risk country.
Anyone who wishes to stay away for prevention reasons will be entirely supported.
We will be stopping match teas for the coming weeks, instead providing hotdogs outside to players, with one parent from each team collecting hot dogs for the team from the kitchen.
We would appreciate it if you would also let your head coach know of any confirmed cases in your family so that we can support you, and also support any containment actions needed as a club.

UNDER 7S RULE THE ROOST AT FESTIVAL 💚🖤
Newmarket U7s travelled to Saffron Walden today to compete in the Cambs festival. The black and green army fielded 3 teams (the most of any participating club) under conditions best described as a “quagmire”. This heighten the excitement and enthusiasm of the players to ensure they became as muddy as possible (at the merriment and then later despair of the watching parents as they began to think about how they are going to transport th...eir mud-monster home and get their kit clean). Despite the conditions, all of the players showed fantastic ball handling skills, superb fast-feet and bagged numinous tries between them. Pulling tags became extremely difficult, but in typical Newmarket determination, the defensive skills shone through.
Each of the 3 teams showed excellent self-organisation, discipline and teamwork to cement Newmarket U7s as the most admired squad of the region.
All of the players deserve special recognition of their efforts today but special mentions must go to Joshua Parker, Kira Butcher and Rafe Hobart who all scored their maiden tries for the club.
Please do not believe the rumours that an U7 coach led a belly slide at the end of the festival, but it’s fair to say his wife is still trying to get the kit clean.......
