'Once you decide on the parameters and figurines that you want to work with, then you have to be a director. You have to know what belongs in which place and what effect it will have. As an adolescent, you adopt visual platitudes. As a provocateur, you need these. But you stand there looking at them and ask yourself what you should actually do with them, and then you construct images and poetry emerges. ' - Artist Martin Eder.

''Paintings are illusions: a slurry of colours smeared across a scrap of cotton fabric using animal hairs attached to a little piece of wood. A shallow sculpture made from layers of paint. It’s all about the creation of illusions'' - Martin Eder

Announcing our next exhibition: ‘Cradle of Magic’. Opening on 27 February 2019, the two-man exhibition will present paintings by John Bellany and Alan Davie. Spanning four decades, ‘Cradle of Magic’ demonstrates the importance of Celtic symbolism and imagery to these two visionary twentieth-century artists, working a generation apart.

Eder states that the sources for his paintings – smut, cute animal pictures, plastic flowers, pseudo-religious iconography, post-apocalyptic or celestial skies – are selected ‘in order to fulfil platitudes.’ These motifs appeal in part because of their ubiquity and in part because they reveal the arbitrariness of societal standards.

What a fantastic exhibition space! Beautiful to look at, huge, high ceilinged spaces filled with light. Curved staircases that transport you from floor to floor and a restaurant that serves great food. The art? Anything would look wonderful here!

User

We came for brunch on Saturday morning and it was perfection. Steak Tartare, Marsala pancake and eggs Florentine (sublime!) The Bloody Ninja was pretty good as well. Lovely staff, great music and amazing surroundings - We shall return!

User

Truly deserving for the Stirling prize. Being a parent with 2 toddlers, What struck me the most was the flushed baby changing table! Fantastic idea for Damien Hirst to share his art collection for free in London. Parking is easy and free on Saturday afternoons and Sundays too.

User

Slightly out of the way, but a great location and with friendly, welcoming staff. The exhibition that we saw ('Gavin Turk: Who What When Where How & Why') made excellent use of the space. Will definitely go back.

User

Really happy to discover this gallery. I read an article in a French magazine and the name of Damien Hirst stopped me because I had the opportunity to discover it in Venice this summer. A very beautiful gallery, free access to the exhibitions. And nice time at the "Pharmacy"

User

On my doorstep, so I've been many times, including on the very first day of opening. An initiative of substantial vision (as the recent RIBA award testifies): Hirst has made a magnificent addition to North Lambeth's cultural landscape. Well worth seeking out, even if it requires a trek to the "wrong side" of the river.

User

My first visit and it didn't disappoint. The Gavin Turk exhibition was excellent and the gallery itself was an amazing space. Pharmacy 2 was well worth a visit for cocktails & eggs benedict ! 👍

User

Mix & match of everything as usual. Really enjoyed Copeland exhibit upstairs, nitty gritty nudes and wonderful strokes of genius. Downstairs very decorative.

User

Great collection on this week

User

Fucking A.

Great show (then again, I love the Koons), but the gallery spaces are beautiful and full of natural light. High ceilings, a mezzanine to look down from, and clear and bright spaces that are perfect for art viewing.

No complaints. Well curated too.

User

Fantastic, friendly gallery with exciting art!

Just across the river from Tate Britain.

You can do both in a day.

User

Beautiful gallery spaces and the current exhibitors were first class. Just a little off the beaten track but worth the short walk. Staff helpful and friendly. Looking forward to next showing.

User

Amazing and airy 37,000 sq ft gallery that holds Damien Hirst's private art collection. It also won the RIBA Sterling prize in 2016. The staircases are beautiful and the venue also includes the restaurant Pharmacy 2. Well worth a visit.

User

A great art space, with interesting exhibitions. Friendly staff, happy to explain art works.

User

A brilliant and friendly gallery space with a great cafe with all the great Damien Hirst medicine cabinets, butterfly pictures and pill cases. The staircases are a thing of beauty. I like the fact it seems a little off the beaten track even though it's five minutes walk from Lambeth Bridge.

User

5 star staff, 5 star collection, 5 star experience. Many thanks to Damien Hirst for this unique opportunity to see his amazing collection, and all for free. Everyone working at the gallery is very friendly and interesting to talk to. Special thanks to them as well. I'll recommend it to my friends.

User

I very much enjoyed my first visit to the gallery, love the location, a bit off the beaten track. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. I did miss a café though for those who want to spend more time in the gallery but don't necessarily want to have a meal in the restaurant. How about a Little Pharmacy Cafe?

User

This place was very hard to find as there are no signposts to guide you and the gallery isnt very well known. Me and my children came on a very rainy day so it was very quiet. Tho the exhibits are really nice and staircases are amazing. We didn't stay long but its a nice visit to look at unusual art.

User

The space is great! The staff in not friendly. They all seem to be on the verge of a ne vous breakdown. I work in art conservation and I've seen many museums and galleries in my life and it's the first time I feel like every guard is on pins and needles. You can't point at stuff without having someone coming and ask you not to touch. Relax, people! The art exposed was very questionable to me, but that's another issue. One last thing: signage is totally inefficient. Finding the loo is a mystery game. The Pharmacy restaurant has a great deco.
