All 3 factors are of course primarily driven by policy; policy that creates the enabling environment for these factors to flourish.

There is however, a role for civil society, non-governmental organisations and private groupings in co-ordinating their efforts to promote any number of these factors.

NFDP Ltd was founded with the expressed intent of creating a credible platform for channeling the skills of the Ghanaian Professional in the European Diaspora into the development of Ghana. Concurrently, our organisation aims to promote investments in Ghana by Ghanaian entrepreneurs in the Diaspora.

As part of our key operating strategy, we recently held the first of our yearly Networking Conference in London. This successful conference which saw in excess of 300 people in attendance was aimed at giving the Ghanaian professional in the Diaspora an opportunity to hear from selected captains of Ghanaian Industry and business and also from key policy makers.

Conference attendees had the opportunity to hear from the President of the Association of GHana Industries- Nana Owusu-Afari, Alhassan Andani, MD of Stanbic Bank Ghana, George Aboagye - Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Investment Promotions Centre. Diane Epstein - Chief of Mission International Organization for Migration. (Ghana) Special guest speaker - H. E. Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo - Ghana High Commissioner UK.

As a follow on from the conference, which allowed participants to network and exchange ideas, our organisation is offering assistance to both interested professionals and entrepreneurs in the areas of facilitating the deployment of their expertise and investments respectively in Ghana.

We currently have a growing list of highly qualified individuals a majority of whom are seeking to continue their career in Ghana. A growing number are also looking for opportunities to volunteer their services.

We have also been approached by a number of Ghanaians leading interesting infrastructure project ideas. We are currently working with some of these to facilitate their projects in Ghana.

The key to effectively linking the Ghanaian Diaspora to the national development of Ghana lies in more organisations continuing to strengthen their efforts in a collaborative fashion and working closely with policy makers and Industry leaders.
