TODAY, the STATE OF NATURE REPORT 2019 has been released, the report attempts to assess the state of the UK’s nature using the best available data on biodiversity, a large amount of this data gathered by an incredible network of volunteers and organisations dedicated to protecting our natural world.
ūü¶č
The report reveals scary statistics on the losses and changes in our natural environment and the increasing pressures it faces.

A DEVASTATING 41% of species have DECREASED in abundance and one in 7 are at risk of extinction.
ūüźŅ
We can now no longer say we didn’t know (although I think we knew already didn’t we . . . if we’re totally honest)
ūü¶Ä
We need to be empowered by this report, not deflated. We need to respond to this cry of help from nature and think about what we can do as individuals and together as communities to encourage BIG changes.
ūüźĚ
BUT we also should not wait for change to happen, we should start making changes today. There are SO many things we can do, starting small, to start reducing our own impact.

We should also CELEBRATE those that are doing amazing things and MAKING SPACE FOR NATURE, the organisations & the individuals.

I feel very lucky in my work to tell these stories of hope and hard work . . of Beavers back in Cornwall, of puffin populations peaking on Lundy, Butterflies back from the brink on Bodmin, regenerative farming for our future across the UK and MANY others.

This episode follows farmer and wildlife photographer Simon Ward @wardospurs - he introduces us to the farm, the children they work with @ @farmsforcitychildren and the incredible wildlife that depends on the river that cuts through their land - a daily reminder of the species that rely on the river and it remaining healthy and how our behaviour on land can impact that.

Over three years ago now I began documenting an incredible and very important project that saw the return of Beavers to Cornwall for the first time in over 400 years. This projects is also a favourite among my friends - I am now Nina (Beavers) in one friends phone (@frankibeee ) and was made this beautiful beaver mug by @cutbybeam as a birthday present. Sitting on a beach in Cornwall sipping red wine from my beaver mug under a harvest moon reminds me of all the good there is amongst all the crap. It‚Äôs very easy to get bogged down in the negative stories and to feel like it can all be a bit hopeless but if you dig a little and swerve some of the toxic headlines you‚Äôll find an army of people doing amazing work to protect our planet, conserve species and give as all a glimmer of hope.‚ėÄÔłŹ‚ėÄÔłŹ HAPPY SUNDAY ‚ėÄÔłŹ‚ėÄÔłŹ
