About Nk Active

Specialist Musculoskeletal and Sports Rehabilitation service. With clinics in Romsey and Basingstoke.

Nk Active Description

Nick graduated from Northampton University in 2009 and has nearly finished his Masters in clinical lower limb biomechanics at Brighton University. Nick has been fortunate enough to work with all range of people from people with the aim to walk to the shops, right up to elite / professional athletes including the London 2012 Paralympic games. Nick then started NK Sports Podiatry.

Here are NK Sports Podiatry we are passionate about getting you back to activity, and importantly keeping you there. We understand your pain, we have had several injuries and understand the pain of not been able to play sport and be active.

We are fortunate enough to have 3D gait analysis equipment, the only place south of London. 3D gait analysis, allows us to look at walking and running in all 3 planes of motion, a normal camera can’t see rotation. It allows us to look at hip to toe function as one and takes out the guessing. Patients are describing as ‘A MRI of how you run’

We will work with you, offering a range of treatments from exercise programs, return to activity plans, footwear advice, custom orthoses, we will do everything we can to help you, with you in full control of your treatment plan.

We keep update with the latest evidence and have access to a full-strength gym, to help take you the whole journey from injury back to activity, whatever level that is, remember age is just an number.

Seeing as it's almost Valentine's Day, perfect timing to share this answer that someone sent in to one of the UKrunchat questions Nick asked during the Twitter takeover at the end of January 👉 it's certainly not one we had heard before when we ask people about their most memorable run ❣️!

➡️ a big part of #NKActive life is injury prevention and reducing the risk of getting an injury; these 3 top tips from Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor, Natalie are a big part of that process. 👉 they sound simple, but definitely worth reminding ourselves from time to time: 1. Set realistic goals 2. Listen to your body 3. Be patient #moveforward

🎥 in the podiatry section of our latest newsletter, we spoke about plantar fasciitis 👉a condition that affects the heel, arch and toes on the sole of the foot; and can cause a far amount of pain, discomfort and "tightness" in the arch of the foot. 👣 the feature talks about footwear and taping your foot as a short term solution and this video on the Nick Knight You Tube channel is a great one to help you do this at home! Any questions? Just ask! #moveforward

💪 in our recent blog on the website NK Active's Podiatrist, Charlie wrote about hypermobility and how strength training as part of your routine can help ensure muscles and joints are able to move under control; and reduce the risk of injury!
▪️Charlie recommends gradually adding strength training to your programme and to concentrate on the movement before progressing (like in the images below) 👉then you can progress to do these movements against resistance before introducing a lightweight with gradual load increase #moveforward #hypermobility

We got this great feedback in December for the team and for the run3D gait analysis service 👉 we use gait analysis to identify abnormalities of movement caused by injury, imbalance, muscle weakness or poor technique; and are one of the only clinics in the UK who offer 3D gait analysis. It is also good to read reviews like this and see the difference we can make to someone's training goals #moveforward

A Thursday in the #NKActive clinic 👉 early workout from Nick in the clinic’s gym and a cup of our teapigs tea; working on squats and seated calf raises today to get those glutes, quads and soleus strong before starting clinic duty! #moveforward

Yeah! It’s Natalie on a bike again. Well for up to half an hour at a time in recovery, but still progress! 👉with 2 weeks left in her boot, we asked Natalie for an update to share with you all; you may remember that Natalie is in training with a Runningwithus coach and has a mid-distance triathlon in June and Ironman in October on her 2020 list... after a recent stress fracture to her foot she has been in recovery mode.
BUT Natalie has started theraband work to get her ankle... and foot strength back; is still keeping up the swimming and aqua jogging and now allowed to cycle for up to half an hour. Keep up the good work Natalie ❤️
P.S Natalie is working with a coach and getting medical advice before taking part in any exercise or recovery; everyone is different so make sure your recovery is fit for purpose and fit for you! #moveforward
