The Nonsuch Dancers recently filmed a DVD of Historical Dance samples
for the Methuen Drama RADA publication: Dramatic Dance: An Actor’s Approach to Dance as a Dramatic Art.
The Nonsuch Dancers have appeared in TV and Film, including Channel 4’s Fern Britton’s 5 O’Clock Show and BBC’s Supersize Me and Doctor Who.
Now under the artistic directorship of choreographer Darren Royston, Nonsuch has experience of taking you by the hand and leading you into the fascinating lost world of historical dance.

“Hail, spirit-stirring Waltz!” wrote Lord Byron 1813….
This workshop will explore different ways of “waltzing”...
…meaning originally turning around the dance floor, there will be opportunities to dance in group dances, couple dances and solo moments of expressive dance – including learning the techniques of leading and following, stepping in rhythm, and weaving under arms!
Led by Darren Royston, with dance demonstrations from European Ballroom Champions; Alison & Nick Gallagher-Hughes, this will be a "Strictly" style historical dance day.
Come try it out, and remember dancing of days gone by. Periods will include circle dance of Medieval period, La Volta of Elizabethan period, Duke of Kent’s waltz from the Regency period, and the Viennese Waltz of the Nineteenth century.
2pm – 4pm Waltzing Workshop
4pm - Afternoon Tea and 42nd AGM of Nonsuch History & Dance (registered charity)
