Look closely - can you see the castle? From a distance it looks like a rocky outcrop but of course it's the magnificent castle of St Hilarion perched high about the Kyrenia coastline.

Traffic jams North Cyprus style... No one minds when it is only the friendly wild donkeys of the Karpaz Peninsula crossing the road! I think they just wanted to say hello!

Pristine golden sands... It's no wonder that the sea turtles choose North Cyprus beaches and lay their eggs in the fine golden sands here.

Kantara Castle - what a vantage point! It seems incredible that they could have built this castle in such a splendidly isolated spot.

Meet the North Cyprus Turtles - an incredible, unique holiday experience! The dedicated volunteers at SPOT do an amazing job protecting the rare loggerhead and green turtles which nest on the unspoiled beaches of North Cyprus. We were lucky enough to participate in a turtle hatchling release at Alagadi last week. The sense of responsibility which you feel as you release your hatchling off to swim in the sea makes it unforgettable! Maybe one day she will be back to lay her own eggs here!
