Update from the team!😊 There is some really good work taking place in our local area! The team has been working hard with local partners to raise awareness of the bowel cancer screening programme and how important it is to be screened.
During April which is the Bowel Cancer Screening Awareness month, health events were held with our BAME community, there was a Women's health session and a Men's health session both held at Equality House, Shelton. These 2 events were well att...ended. There were presentations by the Breast Care Team, AAA Service, Diabetes Team and the Bowel Cancer Team.
On Tuesday 16th April we hosted the Inflatable Bowel in the Royal Stoke Hospital Atrium. The bowel always attracts lots of attention!
Our Screening Clinical Director Dr Sen, Lead Nurse Carol and Programme Manager Angela were interviewed by Radio Stoke on 16th April, to raise awareness and share information about the programme to the Radio Stoke listeners.
On 24th April we did a 'Live' Radio Broadcast with Moorlands Radio.
REMEMBER! Every 15 minutes someone is diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. Young, old, female or male - it affects us all!!
Watch out for the next updateπŸ‘

Bowel Cancer UK. April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, a fantastic annual opportunity to raise awareness of bowel cancer. Every 15 minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer. It's more common in the over 50s but it can affect people of all ages. Around 268,000 people living in the UK today have been diagnosed with the disease. Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer but it shouldn't be. It's treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early. Ea...rly diagnosis really does save lives. Nearly everyone survives bowel cancer if diagnosed at the earliest stage, however this drops significantly as the disease develops. Please complete the screening kit when you receive it and/or visit your GP if things don't feel right. The symptoms of bowel cancer can include: Bleeding from your bottom/blood in your poo A persistent and unexplained change in your bowel habit Unexplained weight loss Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason A pain or lump in your tummy Most people with these symptoms don't have bowel cancer. Other health problems can cause similar symptoms. Please spread the word and share the message! Thank you.
