North West Leicestershire Badminton Club

We are a friendly and fun club with both gents and ladies of all ages and ability.

Badminton is also a great way to keep fit, build stamina and tone muscles. It also helps with suppleness, balance, and general well-being. We play levels and mixed games, using four courts and plastic shuttles.

Membership of the Birstall Badminton Club currently stands at £130. 00 per season, which runs from September to April, but the club stays open in the off-season for people who wish to continue to play. This is approximately 100 hours of court time for £130. 00, which works out at £1. 30 per hour. Not bad, considering the cost of a court for an hour in a leisure centre is around £8. 00-£10. 00! The club also offers a six week trial period for any new players.

We also play in the Leicestershire Badminton Association league and annually enter teams for the mens, ladies and new hall matches. We do find ourselves with a slight imbalance at the moment with regard to the ratio of female to male members, and while we are keen to receive any newcomers of any age 18 + , we would like to encourage more ladies to join the ranks!

We also have an active social aspect to the club, with members participating in many activities, ranging from a refreshing drink after a badminton session, to local sight-seeing trips, or even venturing further afield.

Joining the club gives automatic membership to Badminton England who run and sponsor many events, also offering substantial discounts on event tickets, such as the Yonex All England Badminton Championships.
