David Milburn Shell has purchased this Propelling Control Vehicle which will join the Northumbria fleet. It was one of two prototypes converted from Class 307 unit driving ends. This is 95301, previously 94301 and converted from 307 vehicle 75102. The idea was to enable mail trains to be shunted into Distribution Centres without requiring two or more locomotives. A set of B5 wheelsets has been identified, and these will be refurbished before being fitted to the vehicle’s original bogies. Replacements for some of the damaged or missing parts have already been sourced and we hope to have a session focussing on making the cab secure and weather resistant soon.

David has been sourcing and preparing parts to assist with a future GR (General Repair) of a RRA type wagon based at the Nene Valley Railway. There will be more news on this project in the New Year.
PPT001 - The starter motor from out Permaquip Patrolmen’s Trolley was removed by Baz on Saturday and has today been booked in at a Bosch Service Centre. Hopefully a new pinion is available, and they are going to try and give it a general service and check over to try and address the occasional starting issues that have been experienced. The engine and unit itself will receive some maintenance over the closed season.

Northumbria Rail Ltd.s Swedish Railcar motorcar #1212 Helga completed its Nene Valley Railway winter warmer duties yesterday, and then ran ECS to Overton. It will be stabled here until the New Year, which will enable checks & servicing to be undertaken in preparation for its duties in 2020:
