About Norton Canes Boatbuilders
Full range of boatyard services at the heart of the Midlands canal network.
Norton Canes Boatbuilders Description
Norton Canes Boatbuilders were established in 1986 when proprietor Graham Edgson took over the business from Malcolm Braine. Malcolm began building boats in 1966 and acquired a reputation for producing fine looking craft often with steel hulls and wooden cabins. Whilst working for Malcolm, Graham progressed with the addition of steel superstructures and was working as Malcolm's foreman up until the opportunity arose to run the operation himself due to Malcolm's retirement.
For the last 30 years Graham and his team have applied their engineering and fabrication skills to produce traditionally styled canal boats of fine lines, sweet curves and exquisite balance.
In 2015 we moved the business to Glascote Basin on the Coventry Canal nr. Tamworth, although we still retain the moorings site at Norton Canes Docks.

A few finishing touches and Juggler will be ready to go. Fresh boat in the paint shop on Monday and we start all over again...
We recently launched Naples after major hull works and an undercloth conversion.
Another nice little job to end the week. Dora Venus (one of our builds from 1997) has had a couple of days in the paint dock, having her back panels re-painted in 2-pk Acrylic to remove the previous owners name. She is now awaiting signwriting by Dave Moore.
Nice little job for us over the past couple of weeks on Albion. New Iroko gunwales, hull grit blast and 2-pack epoxy blacking and some signwriting by Dave Moore.
We're back online!
We are currently experiencing some domain issues with the website, which will probably take a week or so to resolve, unfortunately e-mails are also down so if you need to get in touch with us please call us on 01827 311 317 or e-mail Sarah on an alternative e-mail, which is sarah@glascotebasin.co.uk
This excellent Vlog from The Tiller People show the 2-pack blacking process here at Glascote Basin. Thanks guys! ππΌ

Ex-FMC Bream has been blasted back to bare metal in the dry dock at Glascote using eco-friendly blast media and dustless blasting techniques. Bream will be 2-pack epoxy blacked over the next few days.
And there we go, pull the tape and weβre done.
2-pack Black is on and above the top guard has been undercoated ready for glossing.
