Happy retirement to Blagoja (left), seen here receiving his retirement certificate from his Assistant Garage Manager, Paul after 20 years' service with NCT.
Blagoja joined us as a driver in 1998 after arriving in the UK from the former Yugoslavia and has driven a variety of routes, including to West Bridgford, St Ann's, Arnold, Rise Park, Strelley, Bulwell and more latterly Lilac line services to Carlton.
In retirement he plans to return back to the countries that made up Yugoslavia to see friends and family and we wish you all the best, Blagoja!

This Saturday, 8th September, G H Hurt & Son are hosting their annual G. H. Hurt & Son - Heritage Open Day 2018 at their factory in Chilwell.
Established in 1912, they've been working with hand-frames for over 100 years and are the company who made the Nottingham Lace Knitted Baby Shawl worn by newborn Prince Louis back in April!
The event is a great opportunity to see how knitted lace is made and explore 100 years of knitting machinery, (from handframes to the latest commerc...ial knitting machines) as well as marvel at the fine lacy knitting produced here.
The factory will be running as normal, for this public event between 9am and 1pm, with members of staff demonstrating how they make fine lacy knitted shawls (including royal baby shawls) and scarfs.
Our Orange 36 stops right outside, with "Central College" the stop you need.

Also on Saturday, the Boots site is being resurfaced which will affect Navy 49X: https://www.nctx.co.uk/…/road…/boots- site-resurfacing-works/ Between 09:00-17:00 on Sunday 9th Sept Church Street in Arnold was due to be closed. We have since been informed these works are cancelled.

For Throwback Thursday this week, here’s a very unique bus, numbered 666, with distinctive design with the purpose of evaluating new features. The bus was completed in time to be exhibited at the 1978 Commercial Motor Show. During its operational life, 666 became an experimental test bed and one significant upgrade still present was the installation of a turbocharged Leyland 690 engine, resulting in exceptional performance.
The bus is now preserved by Nottingham Area Bus Society based at GCRN - Great Central Railway Nottingham and is one of the vehicles that will be displayed in the Old Market Square for our 140th anniversary event on Saturday 22nd September!

Wednesday 5th September From 10:00, a system upgrade is taking place on the real time system, which will improve the connectivity between NCT and the transmitter.
Whilst this upgrade is taking place, the times shown on bus stops, our website and NCTX Buses app will be scheduled (where available). We will also have no radio contact with the fleet, which will affect our ability to report any issues.
... The upgrade should be completed by lunchtime and we apologise for the inconvenience caused during the downtime.
