Even paintings need some TLC 💕
Today, we welcomed a specialist in painting conservation to have a look at our wonderful 400-year-old painting by the Dutch artist Gommaert van der Gracht.
Unfortunately, its frame has loosened over the years and has led to the canvas rippling in the middle. To keep it in the best possible condition, it may need to be re-stretched onto a new frame. We'll keep you posted with what happens!
... P.S. There's a fascinating story to how this painting ended up here at Rufford. Ask one of our Room Guides and they will tell you all about it.

Say hello to our new family of ducks 🦆
As you can see, the ducklings have been loving the puddles in the courtyard today. We'll be sharing their adventures with you over the next few weeks so keep a 'duck' out!
What shall we name them?

Spring showers haven't dampened this rhododendron's spirits!
Only a few weeks left to feast your eyes on this explosion of white, pink and green. Have you spotted it on your way around our gardens? We would love to see your photos 📸

Croquet anyone?
This May Day weekend, grab a mallet from our free sports box, set off on a woodland walk or relax in our courtyard with a warming drink.
We're open from 11am-5pm each day 👣🌳☕

Don't miss Jane Austen's classic romance story played out in this special outdoor production set in the gardens of Rufford Old Hall.
Elinor Dashwood has a lot of good Sense. Her sister Marianne Dashwood has an excess of Sensibility. Together they make a snappy title for Jane Austen’s classic novel of scandals, scoundrels and severely sprained ankles. This funny, fast-paced and faithful new adaptation from the critically-acclaimed The Pantaloons Theatre Company features live ...music, audience interaction, romance and heartbreak.
Seating is not provided, so we recommend bringing a comfortable blanket, and please make sure you wear of plenty of layers. We have toilet facilities, including an accessible toilet and baby changing station, and free parking will be available on-site too.
Tickets for both performances are priced at £15 for adults and £12.50 for children.

Our Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt is almost here! Friday 19th until Monday 22 April, 11am - 5pm take part when you arrive.
Preparations are under way and we are looking forward to a great weekend. Easter is often a very busy time for us here at Rufford Old Hall, so here’s our tips for keeping your little bunnies happy this Easter weekend.
1. Our least busy times are at 11am and after 3pm, last entry is 4.30pm and we are open until 5pm.
... 2. The car park is small at Rufford and when are full we will operate a one in one out system. There is parking on the A59 outside the property but if you are parking on the road do take care when walking in to the gates at Rufford Old Hall.
3. To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit to the House we may need to restrict numbers entering the house at busy periods. More information will be displayed outside the entrance to the house on the day.
4. If you’re a non-member and coming to the Cadbury Egg Hunt you’ll need to buy an admission ticket plus your trails. However if you join by direct debit over the weekend, you’ll get free Cadbury Trails at all participating National Trust properties during the Easter period.
5. If you’re a member, remember to bring some change for your trails as you can be fast-tracked through admissions, the trail costs £2.50. You can also help us by having your membership cards ready to be scanned.
6. The Tea Room will be open all weekend. If you have little ones who struggle with queues, bring a picnic and blanket. Children’s lunch boxes, snacks and drinks will be available from the kiosk outside the tea room. There are no rubbish bins in the garden though so please ensure you take all litter back with you to be disposed of in the Courtyard.
Looking forward to seeing you here!
