'My paintings in the Book of Birds will be an attempt to turn paint to poetry, to catch flight. Like The Lost Words it will be a love song to the wild world, a praise song in pigment.' Jackie Morris & Robert Macfarlane have announced their next collaboration!
We will of course be celebrating this promise of beauty at Number Seven Dulverton when it is published in 2022.

'Lorna Doone, to a Devonshire man, is as good as clotted cream, almost!' But what about the Somerset man? Exmoor straddles both beautiful counties. Quite taken by this rather romanticised illustration of Dulverton from an edition of Lorna Doone published in 1892. Our Walking Book Club will be stepping out across the River Barle in June. Do join us!

Thoroughly enjoying this welcome spring rain and I'm sure the gardens are too! Just unpacked some fabulous cards featuring firm customer favourites and new designs. Card: Spring Rain by Anita Klein

There is an expectant hint of purple as the bluebells emerge in the nearby woods. Love the shades of mauve and turquoise that swirl in the glaze of Mary's ceramics. All unpacked and ready to go in our window display tomorrow!

Seeking a new book to read? Why not treat yourself to a signed copy of The Strawberry Thief - surely a far more indulgent and healthier way to enjoy Chocolat this Easter. Do contact us if you would like a copy popped aside for you.

The lighter evenings mean we can now wander at our leisure after work. This evening's natural treasures were spotting this handsome fellow and hearing the first cuckoo call - love Exmoor!

Just to let you know we are open our regular hours during the Easter break which are Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 5pm and we look forward to welcoming you.
In the meantime enjoy gazing at this little silver hare bathing in a golden glow of Labradorite. More work by Rachel Bailey is available in our cabinets and we unpacked a lovely parcel from her earlier this week!

Are any of you heading off for a relaxing Easter weekend of walking, reading & eating? I just love this card currently in the window by artist Chris Neale, such an idyllic holiday retreat - although there would have to be a lake or stream nearby for swimming to make it perfect!

These inky otters were collected from the picture framers last week and are heading off to their new holt tomorrow with one of our lovely regular customers.
