Everyone know someone who is a cancer survivor, no one knows an Alzheimer's survivor. Prove me wrong please

Inspiring day listening to Professor Dale Bredesen talk about his work preventing and reversing Alzheimer's using a lifestyle and nutrition based approach

First of all I was shocked, then I had to laugh. How difficult can it be to wash a potato & put a cross into it?! And before you ask, they may be "ready baked" but they still take 50 minutes in the oven so "saves time" cannot be a justification for buying them. Question is, why on earth would anyone buy them?

It makes my day to receive emails like this:
Dear Vicki
Today is a bit of a red letter day!... As you know, I weigh myself far too much, but as of this morning, I have now lost 30 KG since the day you first measured me! We take a very large 30Kg when we go to Spain (my wife's of course!) and it is ALWAYS full, always very heavy and always gets rewarded with a HEAVY sticker and raised eyebrows by the check in staff. I am very excited to be able to report that I have now shed that entire full suitcase from my girth! That was always my target – although now I can see that I can go lower.
Thank you!

New reseached published yesterday in the BMJ Open finds high "bad" cholesterol (LDL-C) does not cause heart disease and concludes treating it with statins a 'waste of time'. The study found elderly people with high LDL-C live as long or longer than those with low LDL-C. http://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/6/6/e01040 1.full

Mars say Dolmio pasta sauces and Uncle Ben's rice products should only be consumed ONCE A WEEK due to high salt, sugar or fat content. Wow, this is quite a move towards better food labelling

Enjoying a soba noodle salad at the Hemsley sisters' cafe in Selfridges. I recommend it!

Don't be fooled into thinking kid's fruit drinks are healthy. Researchers from University of Liverpool have found almost half of 200 fruit drinks marketed at children contain at least a child's entire daily recommended maximum sugar intake of 19g or five teaspoons.
The research also found that the labels on all the products contained a potentially reference intake. It is in line with European law BUT this figure applies to an average sized active adult woman. So it is wholly inappropriate for children.

Great summary of what amounts to "rest and recovery"

One for my current detoxers - the UltraClear tastes great blended with frozen raspberries & spinach

Got to love the Daily Mail. If only it were so simple, no wonder there's so much confusion around nutrition

Quick weekday breakfast: mushrooms on gluten free toast, avocado & tomatoes

Loving this Tahini Goji Berry Smoothie from Honestly Healthy. Perfect post workout protein boost

My last liquid day and I'm starting with a variation on The Big Boy (love that name) which feels incredibly indulgent for a detox

This is a great example of how to use food as fuel. I'm on liquid day 2 & will use this Carrot & Apple Energy Shot with maca & ginger to fuel a 30km bike ride. The rapid infusion of sugar from the carrot & apple juice into my system will give me all the energy I need for an hour's hard exercise. The Maca (an ancient Peruvian plant used to give the Inca warriors strength) helps with repair & endurance

Day 1 of 3 liquid days on the detox this morning so kicking off the day with the NTW Breakfast Smoothie. It will keep me going until lunchtime
