Went on a Wowcher - absolutely fabulous meal for a pittance!!! Going to buy lots more Wowcher!!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Oak Royal Hotel on 15.04.17. It was a perfect day! We would highly recommend this venue for a wedding. Amy and Grant were great from when we first booked last Summer until our Wedding Day.



It is a great setting for a wedding day - we've got some wonderful pictures outside and inside. It works really well having the function room and bar area in reception as you feel like you've got the whole hotel to yourselves (the restaurant is upstairs and has a separate entrance).



The room looked stunning for our wedding ceremony (we would definitely recommend getting the sparkly backdrop from Add a Little Sparkle). Amy and Grant coordinated everything perfectly during the ceremony - Amy with the music and Grant with the bridal party.



The hotel staff changed the room very quickly from a ceremony setting to the wedding breakfast setting - after our photos, the room was all ready for us to look it (and it looked perfect!) The alcove area was perfect for our cake table. We had gone for a square top table instead of a long top table - it looked great.



As the photos had gone quicker than expected, we decided to have a receiving line into the room. This was a change to our original plan and Grant was very accommodating. We had the speeches before the meal which Grant coordinated (the only suggestion we would add is that a microphone would be useful for the speeches as our guests on the back tables were struggling to hear).



Everyone commented on how good the food was. Thank you to the chefs. Also, it came out really quickly to all guests (especially considering we had menu choices so there were certain numbers of each choice to bring to each table). The staff were great.



Again, the hotel staff very quickly removed the tables and put the dance floor down ready for our evening reception. For the evening reception, we had a live band. Guests could choose to either be in the main room with the band or in the sports bar next door. We had a Photo Booth in the entrance room which worked really well as it didn't take up space in the main room. The buffet was really good - we had just gone for the option that came in with the package and there was lots of choice of both hot and cold foods. At the end of the night, we moved into the sports bar. Thank you to the night porter who kept coming back to serve drinks to the small group of us left talking until about 3am!



Many of our guests stayed over (one of the many advantages of this hotel is they have lots of rooms and they are really lovely) so we enjoyed breakfast with them the next morning. Before we left, Grant ensured that we had got everything to take with us- our cake, flowers, name cards, table plan, cards and gifts.

The wife and I had a fantastic experience with you all at the hotel. From the moment I booked over the phone, the service was outstanding! Gordon and the team looked after everything for us and made my wife feel very special with the attention she received.

Stayed here last night for my boyfriends birthday...absolutely brilliant place ...nothing was too much trouble from Amy who organised me putting banners & balloons in the room to the lady on reception,the lady in the bar & the chap in the restaurant...lovely people...meal was fantastic, room was beautiful & my boyfriend had a great surprise & birthday ...thank you all xx

Myself and my new husband got married on 29th July had a fantastic wedding day, Amy + Olivia and the staff were so brilliant with us and our guests despite the rain we had a fantastic day. Our room had a lovely view with balcony Would recommend oak Royal to anyone!!

My son and his now wife had their wedding reception there on the 22nd of July and what a fantastic day. The hotel is something else and the staff so helpful thank you for making it a very special day.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Amy and the other two waitresses last night for making my husbands birthday meal so special. They went all out dressing the table, providing beautiful little extras and my compliments to chef for the most outstanding cuisine. It did make our night and would recommend this to anyone who would like a nice meal out of a special occasion marked in a wonderful way. Thank you all very much and hope to see you again soon xx

I had my wedding reception here last weekend and I was very impressed. The venue catered to our every need and the day ran very smoothly thanks to all of the staff. The venue is beautiful, the food was lovely, the rooms are very modern and lovely too and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our wedding coordinator Amy was very good at keeping in touch and reassuring us before the big day. I cannot fault them at all and would definitely recommend this venue! Thank you �

Have had many games of golf on this course. The course is brilliant and the grounds men do a fantastic job, could not fault any part of the grounds. Take my friends to this course and they love it.

Booked the larkhill restaurant for my partners 30th birthday as a surprise for a big party and from start the finish the service we received was excellent. Everything was ready as I had asked, the service during the meal was of a very high standard and the food was very tasty and very reasonable. Everyone had a fabulous evening and commented on how they enjoyed the food. Thank you very much. I will definitely come back here for future events or even just for a nice meal �

Visited as a group of 4 on Saturday night. The food was lovely and couldn’t fault just a shame about the service. We wasn’t asked about more drinks we had to shout someone over.. they didn’t clear our table of empty glasses just left them piled up.. and we waited ages for our desert order to be taken. Plenty of staff on but seemed they just preferred to stand around talking instead of serving! However didn’t spoil our evening as we had great company �

Had afternoon tea yesterday as a Mothers Day present from my daughter. The staff were lovely and welcoming and the service excellent. The cakes and scones were very good, though personally I would have preferred more savoury food and less cake. Lovely surroundings and views and enjoyed the experience.

Great value for money, great food

A lovely place. The food portions were not enormous but beautifully presented and very tasty. The staff were very pleasant but as we walked in the door and were being greeted by a lady, she was aggressively order away to help elsewhere by the man in charge. Not the best start to our first visit.

Married on 2 June 2018, me and my 4bridemaids stayed the night before we got charged an extra £5 to bring breakfast to the room on the morning which we pre booked the night before, breakfast turned up late, one 15 mins late and the next 4 an hour late and wrong, wedding breakfast starter was wrong and half or the main meal was different to what we trialled, then we was left from 5pm to see to our selfs which we had to go and ask for our toast drink and sort for speeches, very unorganised from then on throughout the night, not all my things was put out which I wanted and cake was cut late by the staff, a little bit too relaxed for a wedding and unorganised and changing things which was promised for our wedding day!

Had our wedding here in march and was really disappointed, the night before our wedding I was offered no help with the 86 chairs I needed to cover even though there was staff about doing nothing. Thank god for my family coming to help. The morning of the wedding no one came up to see how we were doing and whether we were on time, I met grant 10 minutes before the ceremony was about to start, I do a lot of wedding hair at many venues and was very upset to see no champagne, flowers or even a small box of chocolates for welcoming us to the bridal suite, all other establishments do this as it's "a nice touch" after all we have spent a lot of money. The ceremony was perfect apart from telling us that we couldn't have petals along the aisle but I got over this!! Then came the wedding breakfast, one thing we could not fault all day was the food compliments to the chef for that it was excellent (guests still talk about it now) but one thing that was annoying is that I had to ask the staff were the non alcoholic drinks packages were, the kids were waiting ages for there drinks. There was a mix up with one of the adult chicken dinners which was given to a 2 year old, this was obvious as the chicken was the size of he's head. Our adult guest had to have a child's portion which didn't touch the sides. During this time some of the staff were very rude and could of done with smiling. Smiles and manners cost nothing!! The rest of the day went lovely until we came to the night do and dancing on the dance floor. This came completely apart, 2 of the guests ended up hurting there ankles, many a time grant tried to sort it out but failed. Then it was left to my guests to push back together (this shouldn't of happened). My cake topper also went "missing" but they said they hadn't thrown it along with my name cards that we wanted to keep. They have offered us a new cake topper but we don't want a new one, we want the one we bought and used on our special day. We explained the day after al of this to Grant he said he would talk to the owner and tell him what happened. I know there very new to this wedding business but after making lots of brides look special on there Day and hear about how amazing it was I couldn't wait for my turn, that is why I was so disappointed. After the day had been and gone a simple phone call to see how our first week had been or to apologise for what had happened would of been great, but we had nothing. As soon as they got our full payment I felt like they weren't interested. We'd of hoped to return here for our first anniversary but doubt that very much. Hopefully they learnt from our wedding and improved on everyone else's. Hopefully the owner reads this and maybe we get an apology

I’ve just been to the oak royal for afternoon tea with my sister. It was a birthday present which we were looking forward too. Unfortunately the food wasn’t up to standard. We only got 3 sandwiches no more savoury food and the rest were all cake, which was disappointing. I’ve had a few of afternoon teas in different places and this one was poor. I Where really disappointment especially for the price I know it cost. I won’t be going back or recommending it.
