Our Cats' and Dogs' Welfare Comes First Please don't be disappointed when you visit and you cannot see our dogs and gain access to the internal cattery. Studies have shown that visitors walking around kennels can cause distress for the dogs, affecting their mental and physical health. With the dogs' welfare in mind, we restrict kennels access to staff and volunteers only. This will mean that dogs are less stressed and have improved and quicker rehoming prospects. You are likely to see dogs walking around the site and playing in the runs, paddock and woodland, and the cats love to sun themselves in the outdoor section of the cattery on a nice day!

We received this lovely message recently: "Peggy has settled into our little family so well, she is full of beans but so loving at the same time - we are in love. She even joins in with the cleaning and jumps on my mop, she enjoys being in our garden in the grass watching the birds and catching bugs! Thank you so much again for introducing me to Peggy and allowing her to come home with us" Interested in providing a cat with a home? Our Dogs Day Out saw the introduction of 'Masterdog'. We were inundated with fabulous competitors and delighted so many dogs took part. The two overall winners were Amber (fastest small breed) and Mac (fastest large breed) - seen here receiving their certificates! See more pictures of 'Masterdog' on our website: https://www.oaktreeanimals.org.uk/…/Mas terdog-Dogs-…/99.html

Tyson and Archie were on their adventures yesterday out and about in the city! They visited Immortal Art Studio to say a massive thank you after their lovely sponsored event for Billy's 3rd birthday - they even gave us doggy goodie bags to take away! This was followed by a visit to Bruce and Luke’s where Tyson and Archie were showered with cuddles!
Tyson and Archie are both still looking for their forever homes - please visit our website to find out more about these fabulous characters: https://www.oaktreeanimals.org.uk/…/ado pting-an-a…/dogs.html

Tesco Customers create an amazing space for dogs! We recently received £4000 from Tesco, Bags of Help. Programme to create a “Snuffle Run” for dogs in our community woodland. This money, voted for by Tesco customers, has developed an enclosed space where dogs can run off-lead, exploring, snuffling and enjoying the woodland environment. This facility not only benefits the dogs in the care of Oak Tree who are looking to find their forever homes but also dogs within the community who need a secure space to be able to run off lead and explore. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us!

WET KITTEN FOOD APPEAL
Just as Summer arrives here at Oak Tree, so does the beginning of kitten season. We are starting to see a steady increase in calls asking for help with mums and their kittens or orphaned kittens. Our stocks of wet kitten food are running low and our cheeky kittens would like to appeal to our wonderful supporters to donate a pouch or two of food. Their preferred choice of wet food is Felix but will happily accept other brands. Are you thinking of adopting a kitten (or two)? Please do get in contact with us on 01228 560082 Ext.225 to learn more about the wonderful, fluffy bundles of mischief currently awaiting homes or soon will be. https://www.oaktreeanimals.org.uk/…/ado pt…/cats/kittens.html

We visited a few times after deciding to get a pet cat from an animal refuge.

There is a very nice cafe, shop & helpful staff that answered all our questions.

We were shown around the cat accommodation (there are also dogs & horses) and were free to see the cats. After paper work and a short questionnaire was filled in we were able to reserve a cat. We got to meet two suitable cats & chose Patch!

Patch is a 17 month old cat who’d already had two litters when rescued. She is inquisitive & very friendly and ideal for a home with a 9 year old boy. Patch needed spaying & treatments from Oak Tree, but we got to visit & drop off treats as she got better & was ready to take to her new home.

Oak Tree were always helpful & friendly.

Treats from the tea shop during a visit are also delicious. There is also a new children’s outdoor play area, and regular events for guests.

If you are looking for a new pet, make sure you visit Oak Tree.

We adopted our gorgeous cat from here a couple of years ago when it was the 'Animal Refuge' and before it changed hands. I recently had a tour around Oak Tree and i was incredibly impressed with all the changes and improvements that has taken place, and feel excited to hear about future plans. I couldn't believe how calm, quiet the place was. All the animals looked after incredibly relaxed. All the staff and volunteers are incredibly dedicated and Caroline has done a fantastic job since taking over the sanctuary. Well done everyone!

User

We adopted our gorgeous boy Teaga from there nearly 3 years ago. He is one of the nicest natured dogs we have ever come across and just loves to lie on the sofa beside you and have lots of cuddles :-)

User

We adopted our dog Neesha from Oak Tree on the 25th August. The staff were amazing, supportive and very helpful. They explained the whole process to us and kept in touch with us regularly untill we were able to take her home. Neesha has settled in to our family really well and everyone who meets her loves her. Thank you Oak Tree xmx

User

Such an amazing place. The staff are great and care so much for the animals. Recently adopted an amazing dog from here. They allowed us the time to get to know each other and ensure we were the right fit for each other before coming home. Made the whole process so much easier on both of us and couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

User

I have just adopted our patterdale x Bess she is a wonderful dog with the power to separate son from x box daughter from laptop and added a positive dimension to our family life ,

love is felt to her and from her I'm so happy Bess chose us .

Any issues anyone had on her personality have melted away with contentment ! she is so well trained and she slept 1st night on sofa and has made it clear that's her bed from now on .

A big shout out to Rachel and Gemma and the team who cared for her in her worst moments and took the time to pair her up with the right home !

I feel blessed it turned out to be our's .

We decided to trust 100% that our new dog would not do any damage and left her on the sofa to sleep quietly she passed 100% ! .

Today I was out with her and another dog owner could not believe I had only picked her up from oak tree the day before saying she could see the total trust Bess had in me .

It's true she slotted in like the last piece of a jigsaw into our family .

Thankyou oak tree
