REV’D HILARY DAWSON - Branscombe Rev’d Prebendary Hilary Dawson has been appointed Archdeacon of Gloucester with effect from January 2019. Hilary’s last service at St Winifred’s will be our Carol Service on 16th December, it will be lovely to see as many villagers that day as possible. Hilary has immersed herself in village life during her eight or so years with us, and many of us have very good reason to be so thankful for her ministry here. We think it entirely appropriate... that we should give Hilary some tangible sign of our appreciation, and so we should like to invite villagers to consider a contribution towards a gift to present to her when she leaves.
If you would like to contribute, you can send a cheque made payable to “Branscombe PCC” by Sunday 11th December. A cheque may be put in an envelope in the church donations safe addressed to the churchwardens, or you can post it to Ross Willmington, Woodhouse Farm, Branscombe, Seaton EX12 3BX. If you prefer to give cash, then please give it to one of us in person. Please mark all envelopes ‘Hilary Dawson Gift’. Many thanks in advance. Ross Willmington 01297 680264 Norman Brimson 01297 680224 Churchwardens Pat Ayles 01297 680328 Church Treasurer — with Nicola Bullock.

Well what a fabulous weekend we have just had with beautiful weather . Our first visit to Oakdown and we were very impressed with everything about the site ,the amenities were immaculate ,reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly ,everywhere was so beautifully kept and every little detail had been thought about . The cafe on site was brilliant with scrummy homemade ice-cream and cakes ,we will certainly recommend it and be back for another visit very soon .Thankyou for a wonderful stay.

User

We have just spent a couple nights camping here and had a fab time! We were on a pitch right next to the park which was great for the kids. The couple in the cafe are super friendly and kind, they welcomed us and our three small kids. The breakfast was fab and the shop has everything u need! We will definitely be back!

User

We have just returned from our first ever caravan holiday...Oakdown was the perfect choice. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The site itself was immaculate as were the amenities. This will be the first of many visits for us! Thank you for an amazing weekend!

User

We have been visiting oakdown caravan park for eight years now,the staff are very helpful and friendly and the site is superb.

User

We are just on our way home from a 2 weeks holiday here. It has been lovely, our lodge was very nice and comfortable.

The park and facilities are really well kept. The staff are friendly and the cafe is great for a breakfast and they do soya coffee's!! Great location for exploring beaches and attractions. I am sure we will be back

User

Very fast check in, every member of staff was really friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers very clean, warm and with plenty of hot water. Really good facilities overall. Great stay, lovely well laid out site, would stay again, would definitely recommend 👍

User

Just returned home from a week staying with Oakdown and couldn’t have been more pleased with the site. A very warm welcome greets you as you arrive, and nothing is too much bother for the friendly staff. Beautifully maintained pitches and facilities that are spotlessly clean, I don’t think you can ask for more! There is everything you could need from WiFi to an Ironing board, and plenty of things to do in the local area to make a trip worth while. Thanks so much Oakdown, we’ll be back I’m sure!

User

Just returned from a fab week at Oakdown. It was our first visit to the site and we had a great time. Friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble. Cafe on site was lovely and the food was great. Facilities were the best we have seen, even with all the rain and mud they were spotless, never had to que. Kids loved the play park by the cafe and the golf. We will be back!!

User

I have travelled extensively in France and the UK and have lost count of the number of campsites I have stayed at. The welcome I received from the staff here, despite arriving early, probably ranks as the best ever. Really impressive, and what a lovely campsite too! Good job-congratulations to all the staff. It makes such a difference!!

User

Fantastic site, people and service!! Had a lovely weekend stay despite the weather which the owners and staff were very well prepared for - very wet & muddy but they towed everybody on/off pitch and kept all cars off the grass to try to keep damage to a minimum. An unfortunate power cut, out of their control, was quickly resolved once Western Power finally turned up. The site itself & facilities are to a very high standard, really good amenities block with lots of extra touches, great playpark and lovely cafe with a very reasonably priced shop. All the staff are friendly & incredibly helpful - nothing is too much trouble!! The only negative I have is that there are not enough showers for the size of the site and there were morning queues! Cant wait to return

User

Fantastic site, excellent facilities, showers and bathroom and washing up room nice and clean. Great to see a freezer to store the beer in during the warmer days! Great playgrounds for my 2 little girls, the staff at reception and at the cafe very pleasant and always willing to help you out! The evening meals provided on site a nice little bonus..he just needs to provide gravy for the chips for us northerners

A big thanks for the staff on reception allowing us to stay an extra hour so I could run the local parkrun in Seaton

Already making arrangements to return next year....

User

Fantastic site! spotlessly clean, well cared for, great helpful friendly staff. Cannot fault it!! Thoroughly enjoy every visit we have here!

User

Couldn't fault anything but the mud we have just come back from a lovely weekend away in one of your shepherds huts. Very clean and cosy, which is nice now the nights are getting colder. A lovely friendly site and the toilets and showers were always well kept and very clean. Plenty of facilities on site and the addition of a cooked breakfast which was very yummy set us up nicely for the day. We loved it so much we've pre-booked one of your lovely looking lodges/park homes for October half term next year so we can come back as a family. Thank you for letting us stay on your beautiful site and thank you to you lovely friendly and helpful staff for everything. See you in a years time.

User

Camped over the second May Bank Holiday weekend. Spotless facilities, extremely helpful staff through booking, arrival and throughout our stay. Great location. Fantastic for children too. Couldn't ask for more. Will certainly be returning.

User

Arrived home last night from a wonderful week away at this stunning site. I stayed here many times as a little girl when this was a fairly new site and it was a real trip down memory lane to return with my own children all these years later. The original charm, friendliness of staff and quality of the site remains exactly the same. The site has simply improved and expanded whilst managing to maintain every original standard and care from years before. Our lodge was one of five In hazel grove, a superbly maintained little area where all the other guests were super friendly, letting my daughter play and fuss their dogs and she made a new friend a few doors down as well. The lodge itself was outstanding. Spotlessly clean, all utensils were included and even a welcome tray of tea and coffee etc was waiting on our arrival. Most appreciated after a long journey. The staff were so helpful, actually taking us to our lodge and showing us everything in there rather than just passing you a key and waving you in the right direction. When I lost my key during the week (embarrassing) they were so kind, just gave us the spare and simply said not to worry about it, just go get another one cut in town. No fines or telling off! The site itself is perfect for lovely walks, in particular to the donkey sanctuary (which is a real treat) and is only a short drive from Sidmouth, Seaton and Lyme Regis. We were very lucky with the weather but had it not been so good there is still plenty to do locally. You do not need to be driving miles to find things to do. Equally there is a convenient little shop, a cafe and a pitch and putt course and a lovely play area for the children of you just want to stay around the site. This is a fantastic site and every award, in my opinion, is well deserved. You will not find a better site in this area of Devon. We will definitely be back again X

User

Another great weekend spent here for my daughter's birthday it's such a lovely place to relax the kids love the parks and the games room a great shop that stocks everything and amazing cafe...look forward to visiting again.

User

All of the staff are so friendly, we were made to feel very welcome for our 5 day break.

My only disappointment was the WIFI, after having paid for the code, coverage was very poor 😕

The cafe is fantastic, offering a good choice of food and the ice cream is to die for.

We will definitely be returning 😁😁😁

User

We have just returned from a 3 night stay in the Lavender camping pod. Absolutely spotless facilities in close proximity to the pods.....shower amenities only a 5 minute walk away also extremely clean. We made use of the excellent freezer facilities for ice and ice packs which is a great addition. Staff were extremely friendly and approachable.

This would have been a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the fact the smoke alarm in the pod woke us 2/3 nights beeping. My husband informed reception of this as he felt it required a new battery.....We now realise it may been faulty as it continued after the battery had been changed.

Also, I would suggest that when purchasing internet you check to see if where you are on site has coverage as where we were did not which was a complete waste of money as this was not explained at the point of purchase.

All in all a fantastic break; the site is situated perfectly for the beach & days out such as the donkey sanctuary which we walked to, we also visited Lyme Regis and Beer which are a short car journey away.

We would definitely consider visiting again

Oakdown has been my my choice for weekends away, weeks holidays fit the past 7 years. The wardens and staff are very friendly and I think Debbie in the shop/coffee shop is amazing. My grandchildren have just spent 10 days with me and she always finds the time to chat to them and make them feel welcome during her busy day, she deserves an award 🥇. The site is always clean and tidy and the facilities are very good I would recommend this site to anyone.
