Since moving to Maldon last year my family and I have been trying out all the coffee establishments and we feel that you guys have the tastiest and best presented coffee in Maldon!
My husband and I had lunch in the oakhouse yesterday, we both had a delicious walnut bread sandwich, everything was perfect! The staff were very attentive and professional. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Maldon.
I celebrated my retirement by having a party upstairs in the function suite.Carrie the manager was very helpful in helping me organise the party and went out of her way to make the evening such a success.The food was excellent and all of the staff were professional and did a fantastic job. The function suite itself has everything you need in one place,a bar and toilets. I would highly recommend anyone to have their future functions there.Thankyou
Had an amazing night. Martin played some great tunes. The staff were friendly even though rushed off there feet. The atmosphere was great too, everyone just out to have a good time!

Came here for the highly recommended carpaccio of scallops, sliced fine and presently outstanding on the menu. ( my partner had this )
Chefs recently put a lovely special on, radish, goats cheese, broad beans with a healthy splash of olive oil & seasoned heavenly all presented beautifully on sour dough with a good dosing of French lemon dressing around the said dish.
Going forwards, we couldn’t but help hold our excitement back for the ham, egg & chips. Well ... wow. Eggs was runny, chips crisp, and the ham must have been sliced with real care to avoid any fatty parts slipping through the net and onto our plate, this being such a success ! we could not leave without trying this young full of potential young chefs desert menu. I had the lemon bombe! Amazing drizzled with raspberry coulis, my other half had the raspberry and ice cream cake 5 stars !

Just to clear up a previous reviewers complaint regarding the unappetising dried mushrooms on toast, I had these on my first visit & they was beautifully cooked in butter on toast!

Definitely recommend the Oakhouse for families during the day with great food and evening for drinking with great atmosphere.
Always go into the oakhouse, they have outstanding food, wonderful staff and the place always has a welcoming vibe. If you're ever in Maldon I suggest the first place you go to is here!
Popped to Oakhouse today for spot of lunch and to sit out in the sun. We ordered the hot smoked salmon salad. The salad itself was tasted lovely with mixture of orange, fennel, onion and the usual salad bits. However for £12 I expected more than a small slither/ slice of what could be packet smoked salmon. I'm still not sure where hot came into it. Maybe it because the fennel was cooked? Also it took a bit effort cutting the fennel. Possibly request a sharper knife if order this. The staff are friendly and chatty. Although we did have to ask for the table to be cleaned twice.
Went in for lunch today with my 16 month old and husband. After waiting for nearly an hour for a sandwich, all day brunch and Childs meal was extremely disappointed that it came up cold !! The lack of service or compassion from the members of staff left me not only feeling hungry but angry too ! Needless to say this establishment has clearly let standards slip !! Won't be ever visiting here again !
Unbelievable that a night that I had looked forward to was closed down because of loud music when loud music was exactly what was advertised and exactly why everyone who attended was there, if the owners don't research the nights they agree to hold there then they don't deserve to get my hard earned money, avoid!
Outrageous coming in this place for 10 years and get turned away for being "legless" when I was more then capable of standing up!. I will walk in there tomrrow with no problems and get served it shows how shit the "bouncers" are. See you tomorrow
OurHouse Events what a great job, unbelievable night up until the 10.30 feel really sorry for organisers who put time and effort in to it. Shame on Oakhouse.
My last review was deleted. Attended the our house event last night at the Oakhouse, was an amazing event, great music, the busiest Iv seen Oakhouse at the weekend. And the owners decide to shut the dj sound system off at 11pm and play their generic pop playlist from their speakers instead. No one coming to a house event wants to hear pop music. We travelled from Southend last night to come to the event. I just think you wasted a lot of people's time and money. And definitely shouldn't of agreed to host an event ending at 1am, false advertisement on your part.
Lovely children on the door. They have an innate ability to be able to filter coked up adolescents from relatively responsible adults seeking a late drink with almost 100% accuracy. Thoroughly recommended if you like being dictated to by morons sporting their SIA armbands like badges of honour.
Well done Oakhouse. An awesome end to an otherwise magnificent night.
