One of our fabulous girls is running race for life today. It’s not the nicest of topics but cancer affects pretty much everyone at some point in their life and we would love it if you could support Lucy today. Either by watching and shouting support or we will have a donation sheet in the shop this next week.

This morning was very difficult for the team. Our lovely trio of spaniels are moving away and this was their last groom with us 😭 You’re dogs become part of our lives and we look forward to seeing them every few weeks so it’s very emotional when things change. We wish Missy, Daisy, Bailey and their mum and dad a safe journey to their new home and hope they settle in quickly 💕

A really interesting fact for you this bank holiday weekend
Aren’t dogs just fascinating 🐾

Can you see that ??? Yep, that’s right, huge piece of plastic lodged between the back teeth on a lovely Labrador.
Luckily Blu was coming in for his Emmi-Pet teeth cleaning session. It’s only his second visit and was more trusting this time and let myself and the girls to have a good look in his mouth. He has relatively clean teeth but his breath was very noticeable, this could be a good reason why.
... It’s really important to teach your pet from a young age to have every part of them checked, especially their mouth, eyes, ears and paws as these are common areas that encounter problems.

We aren’t just dog groomers but cat groomers too Sadly this old girl left us on Saturday 😭 Over the past year she found it difficult to groom herself so popped in now and again to have her matts clipped out. On her last visit we noticed she wasn’t the same feisty girl we are used to seeing. Regular grooming with a groomer you trust means we can build trust and get a good idea of how you pet usually is, this often means we are the first people to notice when something is a l...ittle off.

Sweet little Amber came in for her first bath yesterday 💖 She’s at the perfect age to be introduced to the grooming experience. Although dogs are trusting of us, if we don’t build a bond at a young age the whole experience can be much more stressful. Slowly introducing your pet to the whole wide world takes time and lots of positive enforcement. The team at Oakley Grooming are well trained in positive introductions for puppies (12+ weeks) and nervous dogs, just let us know when booking and we can arrange the right space for you. 🐾
