Oakley School Of Dancing Description

The Oakley School of Dancing was founded in 2000 and has gone from strength to strength.

The principal, Jacqui Oakley A. R. A. D. R. T. S. , A. I. S. T. D. , B. A. (Hons. ), has set a high standard with consistently excellent examination results throughout the school. Jacqui is ably assisted by Clare Parle (in ballet) and Emily Bower (in tap).

The school is friendly and inclusive. All pupils have the opportunity to perform in biennial shows which are hugely popular and successful. Jacqui has abridged and choreographed classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Cinderella and La fille mal gardée for shows which also include a wide range of Contemporary Dance and Tap.

In its 14 years the school can boast a succession of pupils who have gone on to pursue a dance career, gaining places to study at prestigious vocational schools such as The Royal Ballet School, Royal Academy of Dance and Trinity Laban Conservatoire, as well as study dance at universities such as Roehampton and Northampton.

Many students have successfully auditioned for short /long term courses with English Youth Ballet, National Youth Ballet, Royal Ballet Associates, London Studio Centre Associates and Norfolk Scholars.

The school is extremely lucky to be able to use Banham Community Centre main hall which is a very big facility with a sprung floor. New Buckenham Village Hall is also an exciting venue which is purpose built for theatrical productions and is used for OSD shows and examinations.

Pupils who attend OSD can expect to enjoy their lessons which they will find challenging, fun and rewarding.
