We've been taking our Boxer pup to Puppy Play and training since he was 8 weeks old. Cannot fault Oakwood at all- the staff are dedicated and loving to every dog that walks through the door. They have helped us shape our very boisterous, excitable puppy into a well trained, well socialised, beautiful dog that everyone wants to take home! He will be continuing with his Puppy Play, going onto Advanced Puppy Training and will begin using the crèche as well. Massive thanks to all the staff for what you've done for Bruce!

We've been taking Ralph, our 4 month old yorkie X Lhasa, to puppy play since he was 8 weeks old. He's done two days in the day school and tonight we completed the 6 week puppy training - we've already booked on for the advance class. They've helped to make him a well socialised, (usually) obedient dog who we can now happily take anywhere with us. The staff have always been lovely and very helpful - especially our trainer Abbie. Couldn't fault Oakwood at all!

We have been training with our pup Marley for several weeks. We decided to try Oakwood due to him being nervous around other dogs and people. On our 1st puppy social class he hid in the corner of the pen shaking. I was devastated and convinced that this would never change. George reassured us and encouraged us to keep trying. We then went on to book 1 to 1 with Kerry. Kerry worked both with Marley and us building confidence and basic life skills to help Marley cope. Once ready Kerry encouraged us to start basic manors training. Here we met Tilly who step by step guided us and Marley through our 6 weeks training. We passed with flying colours they were that impressed with Marley’s progress we have moved straight on with Bronze training. As much as we are very proud of ourselves, we could not have come this far without all the help, support, guidance and sometimes just an ear from all the staff. Marley is an amazing, confident obedient dog. We still have a way to go and Oakwood will be by our sides all the way x Thanks guys from Sarah, Matt and Marley x

We have been coming since baloo was 8 weeks old. We have done puppy play, advanced puppy play, 121 training with George and now training in a group.. all the staff are so supportive and friendly and will help in any way they can. Absolutely fantastic place I love going.. and I know baloo does as well!!!!

User

The staff have an unmatched passion for the dogs they care for and take all the time required to match you with the right dog for your situation, highly recommend.

User

The staff are friendly and have great advice. Our puppy has come on so much since visiting Oakwood for puppy play and puppy school. Every visit we have more questions and the staff always make time to offer support and reassure us. Thank you for all your help so far

User

So far, we've had 3 training sessions with Kerry for our GSD Willow, Willow has never been socialised and is a very nervous pooch. So far no trainers have been able to understand her behaviour and help us (in fact they made it worse!) Kerry has been amazing and understands what Willow needs! It's going to be a very slow process but already me and my partner are seeing improvements. We are so happy to have tried oakwood as we'd lost almost all hope. Fabulous service, everyone we've spoken to is lovely and a huge massive thank you so far to Kerry, she really is a credit to you xx

User

Our lurcher Stanley been coming to Oakwood training since he was 15 weeks old. Never thought this would happen but Stanley is now in training for his silver kennel club award. This is due to all the staff who are committed and professional people who love all the dogs including the rescues. Stanley loves the training and also attends the doggy day school were he has many friends dogs and humans. Xxx

Oakwood was recommended to me by friends and I'm so glad we decided to do the 6 week puppy classes.

All the staff at oakwood are amazing and definitely know their stuff, as well as being friendly and very professional, you can tell they are passionate about their work.

My little dog Maggie really enjoyed the Sunday class, she as well as myself have learnt so much, and she is constantly complemented on her good behaviour.

We have used the free day pass we got when we joined the class for puppy school, and also attend puppy play sessions both of which are brilliant and absolutely tire Maggie out.

I really can't recommend these services enough and urge anyone considering the classes to definitely go (you won't regret it).

We're definitely keeping up with our training and signing up for advanced puppy.

Thank you Oakwood

From Gemma, Alfie and Maggie

I would recommend Oakwood to anybody who is needing a little help with their dog. I seriously can't speak highly enough of all the staff. They are so supportive, knowledgable and always willing to go the extra mile to help. I've got a husky Akita cross who is 10 months old. She has extreme excitement around people and dogs which was causing me a nightmare out on walks. She would pull, get frustrated and at times be almost uncontrollable around other dogs with jumping on them and constantly trying to play, basically she had zero manners. With people she would pull towards them and start to jump up. We've been going for 1-2-1 sessions where the classes are worked out around yours and yours dogs needs and the progress has been amazing. I can now calm my dog before she gets close to dogs and people. She doesn't try to jump on dogs anymore, instead has a sniff and a lick in a calm manner. We can now go to beach and have off lead play as she is more interested in running after her ball instead of running after other dogs, which without the help of Oakwood I wouldn't have been to achieve. We still have some training to do as our next aim is get our dog in one of the Oakwood obedience classes with other dogs and people, while staying calm to focus on the training and not the other distractions. Our 1-2-1 sessions are building my dog up to keep her calm enough to attend and I've been blown away with all the support the staff have given us. I would recommend Oakwood in the highest regard!

User

I would absolutely recommend Oakwood to everyone. I've been taking my puppy here for almost 2 months and she's just had her first day at doggy school. I love the whole atmosphere and the staff are fantastic. See you for puppy play tomorrow!

User

I have been bringing Max here for almost a year now and the improvement i have seen in him is amazing. Everyone is so nice and patient with him (and me) and the atmosphere is always relaxed! I would recommend anyone to bring their pooch here, whether it's to the day school, to the social walks or to the classes!

User

I LOVE Oakwood. We have been taking Dexter our Golden Retriever puppy to Puppy Play almost every day. He has so much fun while he is there and is learning how to socialise without realising it. The staff are amazing ... so helpful... nothing is too much trouble. I am so pleased my son in law and daughter recommended this place to us. I can recommend it without reservation. Sue

Hektor has been doing some behavioral training with Abbie over the last month. Right from his first session he has been like a different dog. Following Abbie's advice and training methods have really benefitted us so far and Hektor really enjoys it.

It's still relatively early days for us but I feel like we've already made a lot of progress and have learned a lot from each session.

Abbie is friendly and approachable and I think you can tell that she really enjoys her job.

Edit: Since we've been coming here now for over a year I felt the need to pop a little update to say we're still enjoying our training sessions and so proud that Hektor is somehow working towards his silver good citizen award. Something we never thought would happen.

We've met so many of the staff over the last year and everyone has always been great with us. Hektor seems to love everyone too. All the staff must see tons of dogs each week yet still remember each dogs name and little personality quirks. They all do a fab job.

User

Having been training my dog Marshall there since he was 12 weeks old, completing puppy class, advanced puppy, bronze, sliver and hopefully shortly gold good citizenship awards. I can thoroughly recommend taking your dog here to receive a high level of training from a knowledgeable and helpful team to develop all the skills you and your dog both require wether a new dog owner or having had previous dogs.

Although we should shortly finish the good citizenship awards I hope to continue his training with some of the other classes/one to ones offered.

Marshall also enjoys the day school, particularly tipping over water bowls so he can lay in the muddy water as many of the team know all too well.

We also recommend taking parts in the social walks.

Both myself and my cockapoo Maisie have loved the puppy play and the six week training course. Maisie also spends one day a week at the dog day school which she enjoys and comes home shattered but content. I also like the extra training that they receive in the dig day school. The staff are really friendly and know what they're doing. Would recommend Oakwood canine services to anyone wanting to have their puppy socialised and trained.

User

Been taking our 7month old German Shepherd pup Kenzie to Oakwood since she was 8-9weeks old, we started off with the puppy play then added the 6week puppy course & went onto the advance puppy course for 4weeks. Now we've finished the courses we take her to the Coffee morning every Sunday which she loves, she has made friends & loves tearing around with the other dogs there. Can't imagine what we would've done without their training, the staff (Becky, Abby, Kerry) are all fab & full of useful advice. Thanks for all your help girls, because of you we have a better behaved pooch ( if still a bit go by on the lead!)

User

Absolutely brilliant place. 5 of our dogs have attended Oakwood since it opened either training classes, agility, puppy playgroups or daycare (before it became day school) and even though we now live in North Cave we still prefer our dogs to go to Oakwood. Our latest puppy despite being fine with our other 2 dogs at home, when we took him to puppy playgroup decided that other puppies were scary and spent the first 3 sessions hiding under the chairs but gradually became confident and started playing with the other puppies. Puppy playgroup isn't a free for all and is run by one of Oakwoods wonderful trainers who teach what is appropriate play and what isn't and how to manage your puppy with other dogs. Today George attended his first day at Day school and due to gaining confidence around other dogs went straight in without a backward glance at me and started interacting with the other dogs something I am sure he wouldn't have been able to without puppy playgroup. He also got a report telling us what he had learnt, any time outs he had had (none) and any times he needed to be separated-again none (again probably due to learning appropriate play in playgroup). Puppies are able to attend puppy playgroup after their first injection so can start socialising so much sooner than waiting for their second injection to be able to take them for a walk by which point they would be 13/14 weeks and missed out on 5/6 weeks of early socialising. George has also been to Puppy training and is now attending Advanced puppy training which has been invaluable.
