We are holding another volunteer day to tick off some more of the outside jobs (though there will be a few indoor ones too). These include: - Outside windows, wire brush and undercoat. - Mark out car park. - Paint new fire doors. - Banner bolts on outside of building.... - Weeding and apply weed killer. - Back grass cutting. - Remove remaining ivy from side wall. - General garden tidying of raised beds. - Remove planters (and move to park?) - Remove compost bins and move to park. - Fit replacement feet to banquet chairs where required. - Fit baby changing table in easy access toilet. - A few others to be arranged on the day.
Tools, materials and refreshments will be provided though if someone has a strimmer and/or lawnmower then that would be helpful.

Now that the Trust has ownership of the hall we'd like you all to come along, have a look around and let us know what you think about what we should do with it next. To sweeten the deal we have teamed up with Sewing Days cafe who are running a Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off.
This is a baking competition with a difference, you enter a bake into one of the categories, the entrants are judged and then after 11:30 am your bakes are sold off slice by slice with a nice cup of tea or... other refreshment with all the proceeds going to the Stand Up To Cancer charity.
The categories are:
Savouries... - any quiche of any kind - sausage roll or pasty - any gluten free tart or quiche - any vegan tart or quiche
Sweets... - cake of any kind - cupcake of any kind minimum of 12 - flapjack with any additions you fancy - traybake of any kind
Children's category... - cake of any kind - cupcake of any kind minimum of 12
You can enter as many categories as you wish but we need you to tell us what you are baking by the 6th of May for you to be entered into the competition.
Baking emails to joanne@sewingdays.co.uk
On the day, your bakes should be at the hall by 10am, ready for the 3 judges to find the winners, the winners will get a certificate to say they have won and all children will get a certificate to say they have baked and a homemade chocolate lolly.

Sunday 15th April will see our first big volunteer day. This is just a couple of weeks after our expected official handover date when the Trust becomes responsible for running the hall.
We have a long list of small, medium and large jobs that need doing inside, outside, upstairs and downstairs.
They include painting, decorating, cleaning, dusting, minor electrical or plumbing, gardening, labouring, joinery, tea making and many others.
... There will be jobs suitable for 13 years upwards.
We will provide you with enough refreshments to keep you going and any materials and equipment needed to do the jobs.
So please come along for an hour or six between 10am and 4pm and help us get the hall spruced up for the rest of the year and ready for the rest of our plans.
