Awesome Oddicombe Adrenalin Zip Wire 92 years after Babbacombe Cliff Railway first started carrying passengers we are delighted to introduce a new addition to run alongside the railway. Feasibility studies have been taking place for quite some time behind the scenes and we are incredibly excited to confirm that we will be building the first ever curved zip wire. The start point will be a specially built platform alongside the Cliff Railway Top Station and the wire will run p...arallel to the railway but with the addition of a curved section near the bottom, meaning that the landing will be directly on to the promenade of Oddicombe Beach. Drawings will be going on display at our Visitor Centre on the beach so that everyone can view the plans. We will announce the dates for this shortly as representatives from the Cliff Railway and the engineers and designers will be present to answer any questions. We do hope that you are all as excited as we are and we will, of course, keep you up to date as things progress. All being well, work should start in late summer, with a testing phase over winter ready for opening in Spring 2019. We believe that this will provide not only a truly spectacular way to travel but will attract people from miles around as well as considerable international interest.

We are extremely sad to announce the passing away of John Ayres, Chairman of Babbacombe Cliff Railway Community Interest Company. John was passionate about the Cliff Railway and his mission was to ensure that it would always be a part of the community of Babbacombe, available for local people to use as much as possible, as well as holidaymakers. He was the custodian of this unique piece of history and was committed to keeping the railway in excellent condition and securing i...ts future for generations to come. His passion, enthusiasm and energy ensured that Babbacombe Cliff Railway became the thriving enterprise that it is today. John was so much more than our Chairman. He was a wonderful man who was our inspiration and our friend. His passing is a devastating loss and all of the team at Babbacombe Cliff Railway will miss him enormously.

This place is like a hidden gem of Babacombe. We went there for our Easter holiday break, and the view from the cafe is spectacular, very serene and relaxing. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was spot on. I highly recommend this place to travellers, locals and people who just want to get away from a holiday break.

Spontaneous day trip- and certainly weren't disappointed! Beautiful little town, beautiful Weather and fantastic (very clean ) beaches! Very reasonable day out even if we did treat ourselves to a speed boat ride. 🚤 Totally made the 8hour round trip worth it 😊Even with a three year old in tow! Defiantly will visit again, hopefully for longer next time!

Something for everyone - child friendly, rock climbing, secret coves and hidden waterfalls. Didn't eat in the restaurant but the breakfast looked amazing. Spent the whole day there and got the cliff train to the top. Highly recommend 😊

User

Sniffting for a sesh on the kayaks with a zoot in one hand and a warm can of carlin in the other. Bonked my way across to babbacombe beach and got ma wee boat bitten by the bastard seal, cheeky fucker bare seaweed aswell lad. One of my favorite beaches, I love the many entertainment that they put on, you don't get this on any other beach in Torquay. *****

User

Lovely hidden gem, sandy/shingle beach with a cafe and toilets. Best to park at top and take the cliff railway down.

User

Lovely beach - with a nice coastal walk, with lots going on...the walk has secret coves and waterfalls and bridges. You need to able-bodied though because you do have to go up and down wooden stairs (which can get very slippery in the rain).

A good walk to get to the cafe (and toilets) and a nice little beach with amazing views. There were divers practising and lots of dogs having a great time swimming.

User

Love this place always end up there before we head for home. The cliff railway down to the beach and the facilities everything you need for the day. It made our day when a seal came in close to the shoreline near the swimmers popping his head up and having a look around what a lovely end to the day

User

Lived this way since 1995 and never been or seen this place and I was amazed at how clear water is and how quiet it is and clean and smelled so lovely fresh sea air

User

It's very beautiful x. Loads to do with fantastic happy staff .

Super food. Best chips in the bay . And the thrill of a rail ride . Fantastic .

User

I was lucky enough to spend my childhood on this Beautiful Beach mainly on Little Oddicombe which is closed off BUT it is my Happy Place even after 50 years. My Family still live in St Marychurch so I visit once a month. The new Bistro is Fab and I love the Cliff Railway ❤️ It's HOME ❤️

User

I haven't been here since my children were little, and now I've come with my grandchildren, they loved the cable car down to the beach.... It still has as much charm now as it did then

User

I am local and twenty minutes walk away.

The beach is off the beaten track to grockles! The facilities are first class with an up market bistro and bar in "Three degrees West" .

The fantastic Cliff Railway to assist those who wishes to use the facility.

The walkway to Babbacombe Beach gives an added demension. to visit the Cary Arms.

Finally the blue beach flag demonstrated the beach is of the cleanest standards available within the EU.

User

Great little place and a lovely walk from Babbicombe Beach to Oddicombe Beach. Stunning views from the little Cliff Railway Cafe at the top

User

A hidden gem! Took the cliff top railway down, stayed for hours. Perfect for all the family
