We took 43 children and 7 adults last night. The food was great and the staff were amazing- so friendly and helpful! Thank you so much for making what could have been a stressful visit so easy! St Peter’s x

We love it at The Old Hare and Hounds although we affectionately call it our "winchester" because we never go anywhere else-

We first met here, we then had our first date here and now we have every date here, generally in the same hidden round the corner table away from everyone!

We love the brunch menu the most but Sunday roasts are great too and we really like all the fab friendly staff- Caroline and the team are a credit to Ember Inns. The atmosphere is always welcoming and when the fires are lit it's warm and cosy. A great local pub well worth a visit

User

User

We had a booking of 22 people on Sunday.. they accommodated us in our own area.. they advised us to pre order which we did.. the food came out altogether serving the kids first, then the adults . The food was lovely. The staff were brilliant especially George our waiter. They never rushed us out and was happy for us all to pay separately.. all in all a very enjoyable experience for everyone in our party.. a massive thanks to all the staff including the chefs for such a lovely afternoon...!!

User

Was celebrating a special occasion with friends and family, 23 of us. Food was lovely and service was amazing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, would definitely recommend it!!

User

I found myself in need of somewhere for a family meal yesterday. We decided to try The Old Hare and Hounds. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the cost was reasonable. We will definitely be back.

User

Had a lovely meal with family and friends all 22 of us..we could not fault the meal or our waiter. .we would go back... had our own area just for us and the staff couldn't do enough for us... many thanks.. !!

User

Cracking local pub food is always excellent, just been for something to eat and as far as I'm concerned best pub grub in the area.

User

Another fabulous afternoon . Always a great welcome . Susan , faith and all the staff are so helpful and friendly . Had starters . Mains . Puddings and coffee . Everything was perfect . We had two small children with us . They were made very welcome . Thanks again x

User

We only popped in for a swift drink with friends, first time for us as we do not live round that way. Very busy for Sunday fire welcoming but a little over powering had to move to another table but we did have to move crockery and drinking glasses ourselves seems shortage of staff. But would not deture me for trying again maybe food next time.

User

Had a great meal here few weeks ago staff were friendly and great atmosphere too.

User

A wonderful evening catching up with good friends and celebrations for Penelope's birthday and a lovely surprise to see mimi looking so happy, food very good as usual, great atmosphere as usual until some dick decided to ignore the old phrase of people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones .

User

The staff were friendly and efficient but the Mushroom starter was awful they were rock hard ..the main wasn’t too bad but overall not great

User

I wouldn't rave about the place - really dirty needs a good clean cobwebs in high ceiling, knifes thorks weren't washed properly. Table lamps filled with dust.

Some staff friendly and some are miserable.

Food was okay I suppose, will not be returning, shame really as it's not too far.

User

Giving it a 3 as can't fault the staff , and the service , so friendly and accommodating,

Really good food too , my 3 stars is down to what I presume was the duty manager and his lack of manners !

There's a table balanced by the door that's very unstable and holds lots of pots with cutlery sauces etc for outside use !

A young girl leant on it by accident , and was horrified she'd done it as table collapsed and all items came crashing off !

They tried to sort as best they could and a member of staff came over to reassure them all ok !

They left and the duty manager came over and at top of voice with a big sigh said IDIOTS !

For all to hear ! He then started picking all up and putting back in holders all the items including the cutlery that had been all the the floor and the entrance mat !

User

Well gotta say two nights running ive been up to this pub..first night complained about our meal..second night because I refused to pay £3 for a new years ticket as I was finishing my drink and it wasnt even 6pm when I was told to pay for a ticket..I was then verbally abused by a member of staff witnessed by others which has resulted in my husband being barred!!! The place is disgusting yeah but its been our local for over 30 years and to be spoken to like a piece of shit is not on at all..also suggest anyone else who was told before 6pm to buy a ticket or your out to question the legalities of it..two members of staff need their backsides kicking also need to go back to school to learn some manners..ugly treatment of longstanding customers..shall be taking this complaint further..!!!!

I have been here on a couple of occasions as my parents live nearby. I bring them for a meal which has always been pleasant with friendly attentive efficient staff (Stacey). But on last visit it appears all the lovely staff have been replaced by staff who really dont want to be there and is an effort to be pleasant or helpful to customers. The tables are never cleared or cleaned. Never enough staff on (mind you this has always been an issue here I believe from regulars). The food was always good but now is poor. The presentation not good, food overcooked and my was cold on arrival. When complained they never apologised just said got problems with kitchen staff. Seems to me whole pub in need of a shake up or new management with new staff.
