A collaboration of amateur writers and poets from Barnsley come together to share their work live, some for the very first time

After a blistering set at the Electric cabaret last night, Wilson will be supporting Ben Poole on 23rd November !!

Went for a pool match only but good company and more important good vibes. Don't often feel as comfortable in a pub that I have never been in before. Will definitely go again. Thanks guys for a great night. Everyone from the Rose and Crown pig will agree with me.

We always like it here. Bands are looked after by staff and Marcus. The new look is fantastic. We knew it had had some alterations but we were taken back at how different the place looks. Lovely. :-)

This place is absolutely wonderful. I can't believe the difference from last year. It's not just that it's been completely changed, it's that it's been done tastefully and to a great standard.

I'd love to see summat similar here in Sheffield. An old school type place rescued and done up as a performance venue.

Hats off to all those involved, both for the place itself and for helping keep live music going and available.

The Old schoolhouse rocks! Whether you're in a cover band, originals band, a folk artist, acoustic warbler or soul diva expect to receive the same level of disdain, contempt and abuse from the man who runs the show as everyone else gets. Wouldn't have it any other way! A fantastic venue for players and audience alike. Deservedly voted the best venue in town by the folk that regularly drag their arses out to enjoy live music. Decent beers on too! If only they did chips, I'd move in!

Never had a bad night at the place - super friendly staff, top sound (that's you @[100009421095505:Marcus]) - great selection of bands, and now the bar area renovation + top ale - if you haven't been here yet, you're missing out...

Most deff the best friendliest well run venue around bar none. Das Abyss and Johnny Half A Day always have our best gigs here. Due to Sound quality by Marcus Ward ,and great atmosphere ,and hospitality .

It's a brilliant venue. They have some great bands on here - both tribute and original. The staff are friendly and welcoming and it doesn't cost the earth to drink here

I hadn't been there for a few years and wow what a change ,the place has really been done up to a high standard good beer fair prices , I watched back Street thunder awesome band great night cheers

I can't thank the Old School House venue enough for their help at Fridays fundraiser gig for Weston Park Cancer Charity. Everything ran like clock work, both bars were open, the sound was perfect (as always) thanks to Marcus and the venue running the door took an enormous amount of pressure off me. The generous donation by the venue towards the charity was the icing on the cake. Everyone loved it.

I can't believe the transformation in the last year! What a gem of a place! Clean, modern, hand pulled beer. My only criticism would be the seating arrangements for the Ben Poole gig! We weren't allowed to sit at the front as it was for a table of 5 we were a 4. The group that sat there spoke loudly through out the whole gig ( not the venues fault obviously), but surely a different layout would work better perhaps seating around the edge & standing room. I like to at least try & dance at a rock/blues gig. Non the less it's a great venue ... more great acts please!

Had a brilliant night the bands were great, BA Funk Band were a real crowd puller hope to see them again there x the place looks great too with the refurbishment and patio beer garden area x

Great venue one of the few venues in Barnsley with a permanent stage and top notch PA. Marcus on sound is excellent. Yes he's a grumpy old sod, but he listens adjusts and ensures you sound as good as you can sound. If you sound shit in the Old school House, chances are you're actually shit.

Great sound great atmosphere nice ale what more can you ask???? support your local venues folks ul be moaning when theyre gone so don't let it happen!!!! Please Support live music you know it makes sense. �

First time here, came to watch a mate's band True Order. Lovely staff, great atmosphere and welcoming, good drinks prices. Would definitely come again. Well done to the owner 👍🏽

First time for Real to Reel tonight. Great night had by all. Great venue run by very genuine people and brilliant audience.

Been a few times now in the past couple of months really liked it cant wait to go again this weekend ��� thumbs up all round \m/

Attended a gin taster yesterday and it was excellent - will definitely be attending the next one and would highly recommend it.
