To my lovely followers....I'm going to have a week off from doing collections and deliveries this week.
It can be quite anxiety inducing going to get stock and as much as I love going to the shop and baking for you guys, I'm just taking some time to look after myself.
I cried when I came home from my deliveries last week, it was the first time I really felt anxious seeing so many people queueing....everywhere I went there were queues and every time I go out there are so ma...ny who are not following the 2 metre social distancing rule.
Although I am not high risk or vulnerable, my mental health needs to be prioritised over one week stressing trying to pay my bills whilst waiting for the government emergency grant to come through.
I'll be back next week taking brownie/blondie and cakey orders for next weekend x

Today marks ONE whole year since I opened the shop.
It feels so weird to celebrate this little anniversary when I can no longer have the shop open during the pandemic. We are still doing orders for collect and deliveries within a mile of the shop.
I listen to one particular song every day to help with my mental health and also keep my spirits up. It definitely has become my favourite song over the last few months so I end this post with some lyrics which feel so relevant for... now:

What a weird week it has been I think it is hard for everyone to process what it is happening. I did a little video update but I feel like I was just chatting a lot of waffle. I see people doing delivery services now that business is going quiet but I feel like it is so hard for me to even think of competing among all the noise when people are already on it. Also there is only so much people can buy right now when their hours have been cut or worse they have lost their jobs.... This is a massive wake up call for many people. What society can be like with the panic buying etc. I feel bad for complaining that footfall around Sneinton Market when things are completely worse now. Of course I am grateful for what I have, I am just a bit anxious of my future. Last year was such a bad year for my mental health and I came into 2020 thinking I can own this year. Money is so tight I have had to completely scrap new branding concepts/a new website and more so I can ensure I can pay for the essentials. I was on the path of setting up a social enterprise so I could help others in need using baking as a therapeutic device but I am not sure how I can do that now. If you would like to make an order for the next few weeks I have got my #CAKEUP Callline open Just sent me a text on 07969235136 with what you would like, when and for how many and I can get a price over to you! I can box things up at the shop so all you have to do is collect or if you live locally I can deliver. Ideally I would like to do weekend collections/delivery drops so I can make my work more efficient but if you are ordering for a birthday or a special occasion I am happy to work with you. I have other things planned soon which will help support and promote the local businesses around me. More of this to come x

Urgh This virus.
It has not only messed up my meet the maker vibes but also increased anxiety amongst small businesses wondering about sales,the local and national economy, orders, ingredients/stock and bills...
... Urgh thanks for that.
All I can say is what everyone else is saying: -I am and always have been a 5* hygiene business. I have always had high levels of hygiene and this has been cranked up a notch to reassure people. - I work alone in the bakery and for the time being I am not allowing members of the public to enter the shop for consultations, no friends or family visits. Don't worry I'm used to the social isolation as a small business owner 😅 - if you would like to collect your order, I will bring your goodies out to the car. - Currently I will be doing payment via BACS for online queries or contactless payments in store.
I'd love to offer a delivery/collection service but I understand cakes and brownies arent really on the top of the food shop list. I know budgets will be tight depending on your own work commitments/having to buy extras for self isolating. If you would like to support a small business by placing an order for a future special occasion or just as a self care treat, just ping me a DM or an email.
Let me know your thoughts anyway. Maybe we can pull together via small business networks or exchange skills for the uncertain months ahead x
