Showing on our Digital Window Gallery:
Transformative Moments is a collaborative project, travelling through 5 women’s experiences from different backgrounds: Mary, Heather, Jenny, Usnee and Julie. The project is authored together with Stephanie Wynne.
Achieving a university degree helped Heather regain her confidence. Her project told stories of recovering by using images of personal objects over-laid with scenes from dark city spaces opening up into brighter landscapes.

Our current exhibition '209 Women' is only open for another few days but for those who may not have had the chance to catch it, we have some news.
We have been busy designing a book with Bluecoat Press celebrating all the women that make up the project – both MPs and photographers – who worked together to create images that communicated their identities on their terms.
The book is available now via our Kickstarter campaign for £25.

Last chance to see! Featuring on our Digital Window Gallery until Sunday is Suzanne St Clare with her photographic project Tabula Rasa, created alongside participants in the G.I.R.L.S project. The project exists to help the girls and women build self-esteem and strengthen resilience through artistic expressions.
“Before doing the G.I.R.L.S project I felt sad and unwanted that I didn’t fit in. I was scared to be myself. I know now that I should just be myself and proud of who I am.”

📡 We're trying to track down a photographer. Can you help?
A message from Laura Robertson, our critical-writer-in-residence:
I'm trying to track down info about their first female exhibiting artist, Anne Lloyd-Morris. Do you remember her? Or know someone who does? Anne was in a group exhibition 5–March 1979, ‘Open Eye ‘79’ (with Terry Duffy, Geoffrey Tucker, John McDonald, Peter Hagerty, Martin Shallcross) and then solo exhibition 1 July–2 Aug 1980, ‘Photographs by Anne Lloyd Morris’. She might have changed her name. Pls get in touch via twitter, @doublenegativeL, or email, laura[at]thedoublenegative.co.uk. Thank you!

Chloe Rosser‘s “Form & Function” is a work that allows photography, sculpture and the human body to intersect. Rosser speaks of the increasing alienation and unfamiliarity that we have with our own bodies. Her fleshy sculptures stand out with their imperfections, marks and contours – the parts of ourselves we are inclined to hide in our digitally altered lives. Available in our independent shop! https://www.chloerosser.co.uk/

“My mother was an amazing woman, I wanted to look at the things that made her uniquely her” Celine Marchbank ’s “Tulip” is a project that documents a delicate, haunting record of the final year of her mother’s life. The work, while coming to terms with death, is also a celebration of the bright and cheerful life of Sue Miles. Available in our independent shop! http://www.celinemarchbank.com/

New to our Digital Window Gallery is Stephanie Wynne’s project Transformative Moments, collaborating with 5 women from Wirral Change. It documents and explores the personal moments of changes in these women’s lives, mirroring the national moment when women achieved the vote on 21st November 1918.

Behind the screens: Tabula Rasa
The girls in the portraits become models and photographers in this group project guided by Suzanne. They discussed the style of background and learned from other photographers. Four colours - grey, purple, yellow and blue are selected and painted to backdrop canvasses. The girls selected the portraits by reflecting on aesthetics and their emotional experiences.
Tabula Rasa is currently showing on our Digital Window Gallery.
