About Openstorytellers Frome

OpenStoryTellers uses the art-form of storytelling to help people with learning disabilities living in Mendip and the surrounding area.

Openstorytellers Frome Description

Openstorytellers works within the Third Sector delivering activities and skills based training which complement and extend the services offered in the statutory sector, where the focus, particularly in a tough financial climate, is on meeting basic needs.

Openstorytellers uses the art-form of storytelling to help people to find personal meaning in traditional stories, and so make links between a legend and their own lives. Stories are a valuable resource – stories are fun and interesting; help you to make friends; understand the world and develop your imagination. Openstorytellers provide imaginative, empowering and innovative activities which develop people’s confidence, release potential and which promote inclusion in the community.

We explore, celebrate and challenge the ways in which people with learning and other disabilities are represented in traditional stories.

Last week we held our annual Bardic Chair Storytelling event here at Openstorytellers. It was such a lovely afternoon!
Thanks to all the wonderful storytellers that shared stories.
Sue was rather delighted to open the winning envelope after telling her Snow White story - which means she is the keeper of the Bardic Chair this year!
