We had an amazing night for my birthday, 14 of us. After a bit of a shaky start to build up re mix up with menus and pre order the experience was second to none. Ashley who looked after us was fantastic. The little touches of my name on board at entrance to our surprise private room, the name plates with our chosen meal on, the complimentary glass of prosecco for everyone due to mix up. My surprise birthday dessert with happy birthday greeting. as I didn’t order a dessert one, to the soulful group, an absolute perfect night. We will most certainly return. Your staff and hospitality are brilliant.

This restaurant is definitely now the best place to eat and drink in Chester. Great service and atmosphere . Thank you Bridie on reception for making us feel special . Cam who mixed us great cocktails and Tammy who was attentive and served some amazing food that was different and beautifully cooked. Thank you also to Kyle who made our special day a little more special with a Wow . We are now totally spoilt, from the moment we walked into this amazing building, great design and modern surroundings , love the downstairs bar and the high stools and roof terrace is light and spacious with great decor and a view of Chester . Everyone must try to visit and enjoy the experience .

I was treated to the Opera Grill gospel night by my son and daughter in law for my birthday on March 18th, what a treat, the food was cooked to perfection, 3 of us had the steak and everyone said it was delicious, 1 had the salmon it looked really nice and I was told it was very tasty. The gospel choir were superb and really put the icing on the evening, we will certainly book again, thank you

Group of us went on Sunday for lunch the gospel choir was good but the food was expensive for what it was .Steak then you have to buy all of your side dishes £4.50 -£5.00 is a joke nice place but they are killing it slowly won’t be going back average food above average prices

First time we have been we ate at the bar great beer and wine great food 🥘 great service very well designed stunning inside would definitely return

First class service.. on the terrace on race day and annoying girl’s voice initially from a group next to us, not operas fault and thinking her friends might eventually try to forget her..(GDPR lives) didn’t have starter choice for my wife so ‘comped’ her a free starter, then ‘comped her steak too’ as there somehow was a hair in her meal.. we thought that the rest of our food was first class and although the mishap we really genuinely know and believe that the chef did not put the hair in the meal on purpose, so instead because of how the manager dealt with it will definitely be a loyal customer!! Shit happens and we are sometimes only human..👍☝️❤️ Book Opera guys!!!!👍👍👍

Fantastic, superb location, picturesque surroundings, modern refurbed decor, quality/value for money food (the best & perfectly cooked steaks we’ve ever eaten) & drink & attentive professional staff.

Fabulous!!.... We were seated in the private dining area upstairs, complemtary champagne at our table, very attentive waiter who took care of us all evening. Lovely meal and live music throughout the evening. The Birthday Girl had a wonderful evening. Thank you.

Couldn’t fault this place in any way, food was fantastic, one of the best steaks I’ve eaten, hosts (Chris, Tom and team) were the best, very attentive to your needs and the live music was superb, wish we had seen more of them as only caught the last 45 mins. Highly recommend.

Been here a few times now and every time food drinks and service has been perfect.. we always reserve a table on the Terence and really enjoyed it with it being a lovely sunny evening.. food was beautiful as always will definitely be returning

visited on a friday night after being recommended to us by friends. picked a cocktail from the bar didn’t realise it was exclusive prices to members, but got offered a free loyalty card straight away. cocktails great value at £6 & a good variety! got took to our table which was up a good flight of stairs, to the roof terrace. first shown to a table which you couldn’t move, no space to move your chair etc, moved to another table which was in the way of everyone passing! so moved again, but was seated near a birthday group of 10+girls who were out celebrating but by this time we were sick of moving. ordered bread as a starter, just received this when our steaks arrived, told them to take them back as we hadn’t finished our starters! steaks arrived back mine was over cooked & tasteless! certainly not worth £30!!! we did get offered a free desert! but we don’t do sweets.. just think we got a bad meal.. would try again!

roof terrace is nice but far too many tables crammed up there!!

Lovely roof terrace, good service. Had lunch menu, fish, chips and peas were excellent, batter thin and crispy. Did have a long wait for the dessert to be served after we placed the order, unsure why as the place was almost empty but it did not spoil the experience and we’ll definitely go again. Service charge automatically added to the bill.

Food was great, only thing that knocked it down to 4 was that either the tables too high or the seats to low. Music a touch on the loud side so difficult to hold a conversation across the table.

Table service was very patchy,the food was very good but the experience is not what we are used to...have been a card holder for years..didn’t pay the service charge due to this.

Bar staff were far more accommodating though!

Sat near the entrance but needed to wear my jacket due to the draft.

Wouldn’t rush back I’m afraid

Arrived there after race day yesterday . Friend booked meal back in March . On arrival they couldn’t find booking, waited ages to sort it out. Finally were shown to our table on roof terrace, needed sunglasses to see, after asking could screensbe closed over, this was done immediately. Due to the confusion over reservation were given complimentary drinks. Waitress who dealt Our table was most unfriendly, super efficient but was like reading as fast as she could from a memorised script, half the things she said were incoherent due to how fast she was trying to relay it. Food was a bit of a let down , steak was dry and tasteless, as a steak eater worst steak meal have had. I must add this is 3 rd time I have visited opera grill, being a frequent visitor of restaurant bar & grill Liverpool, which has always been first class service and food. Saying that I would go again, not to be put off by one not so good experience

Went for Gospel Lunch. The music was great. The food was not. They were doing 2 courses for £25, 3 courses for £30. Limited menu of about 4 choices per course. We didn’t fancy any of the starters. They’d run out of sea bass so we all had steak. Which came with NOTHING! Sauces were an extra £1. Chips, potatoes, veg and salad were £4 to £5 a portion. I had salad - dreadful mixed greens which were going black and slimy round the edges. There were 3 slices of radish, half a cherry tomatoe and a couple of slices of the smallest cucumber I’ve ever seen!

For pudding I had chocolate fondant which was gooey in the middle but dry on the outside.

Overall we had a nice time but should’ve just had drinks and eaten somewhere else.

Visited with group of friends. Sat upstairs, 7 of us in booth with round table-not impressed with seating straight away as we were very squashed elbow to elbow, no room to put food when served-had to tip sides onto plates and give dishes back. They did offer us to split into next booth but wanted to be sat together. Lots of staff rushing around and very polite, any drinks ordered took a while to arrive as the evening went on. Food/drinks very expensive (and we eat out Regularly) though band playing and good friends made for enjoyable evening. Would visit again but maybe just for atmosphere and couple of drinks on a summer evening.

Terrible service from start to finish. Do not bother dining at the rooftop terrace. Had to wait to order drinks , then order food. Service was so slow for an up market restaurant. Even had to ask twice for the bill. Sorry, but won't be rushing back

Really enjoyed the jazz night the band was absolutely excellent

However food was really disappointing, the staff were lovely, but it took an hour to get started of beetroot with salad and another hour before a disappointing main
