In 1986 the club held a testimonial game for Lancashire County Cricket Club and West Indies cricket legend Clive Lloyd.
On a lovely hot sunny June day, an Orrell XI lost to a Lancashire county team, and afterwards celebrated the opening of the new club bar.

In the picture below you can see a current Orrell player (Steve Tickle), the father of a current player (Allan Ackers), a future Orrell captain (Phil Unsworth), and other well known figures from the club’s past - including David Whiteley, Gordon Bennett, Gerry MacMahon and Peter Sixsmith - along with Spring View Cricket Club player Alan Green, and former Everton Football Club and Wigan Athletic footballer Warren Aspinall.

We are delighted to announce the signing of Ormskirk Cricket Club opening bat Andrew Baybutt for the 2019 season.
Andrew returns to Orrell (the club where he had played all his junior cricket from the age of 9) after seven years away at Brook Lane where he scored over 6,000 runs and won numerous trophies.
‘We are delighted to have him back,’ said chairman Spencer Anglesea. ‘Andrew’s experience will help us in the Premiership, and his arrival has given us a big boost. I know... he has loved his time at Ormskirk and made many friends there and great memories. They have wished Andrew well which is a sign of their class as a cricket club.’

A year ago, we set out on a plan to improve our outdoor space and facilities to create a great social space for our community. Now, thanks to a grant from @BigLotteryFund, we’re even closer to making that plan a reality. Thank you #NationalLottery players, your money won’t go to waste, we’ve already done plenty of work over the summer, keep an eye out for more this winter.
