We visited on Sat 27 before visit to Theatre. Opted for the Chilli Beef Wrap and it was Lovely decent portion and good value. Excellent service even though they were pretty busy. Definitely recommend Oscar's!!! �

We visited last night on my wifes recomendation im in the industry so i no what im talking about and theseyoung men and women coped admirably even when very busy , the food was very good and the prawn cocktail starter the best ive ever eaten well done pps

Went in with my partner on a child free afternoon yesterday, the environment was welcoming, looked lovely and was spacious- will definitely be going again!



Service- Attentive, quick and without mistake!



Menu- Extensive, well priced and accommodating!



Staff- Friendly, smiling and helpful!



Food- Lovely, no mistakes, well presented, not too much not too little!



Drinks- Loved the Irish stout! Great bar, lots to choose from!



Location- Great stuff, in the city centre, close to lots of great shops, really lovely, couldn't have asked for more!



N.B (I'd personally go for the challenge burger- little tip though- Chips first with slat and vinegar and mayo, then put the coleslaw on the brioche and dust those off, then the bacon then just the juicy burgers to finish!!!)

Then loads of people poured in and it was worrying that the manager was by herself at this point, trying to seat people, take orders and get drinks. Eventually other members of staff arrived and our order was taken ten minutes later by a very laid back waiter, who was just going to take our drinks order but we told him we were ready to order food as well. Didn't want to wait until he came back because of the number of people who had arrived after us! We didn't have to wait too long for our food which was really nice, hot and huge portions. This was good value for money but if portion size was reduced there would be room for pudding! Just so glad I didn't have a starter. Perhaps they need to start the lunch time shift at 11.30am so there are more staff around when the crowds pour in, especially when it is the Christmas festival in York. Will definitely visit again.

Nice food but was seated by the far door. Every 40 seconds a key pad noise and the door for upstairs opens and slams shut. They spend a few seconds down stairs then back up again and slam. What stared off as a nice evening in here has been ruined by slamming doors and key pad noises for no reason at all. Fit a bloody slow closer door because this was annoying. Not relaxing

Then you could hear what they were saying next to you as the tavles were very close together so not much privacy if you wanted a bit.

We were seated quickly and our order taken, it took ages for the food to come so I ordered another drink, which never arrived. The chap that took my drinks order (short guy with a beard) was more interested in chatting to his mate sat at one of the tables nearby. The only reason I haven't given this visit 3 stars is because the guy that brought our food out apologised and gave us a couple more drinks on the house. I didn't catch his name but he was tall with brown hair and a beard. If more of the staff were working as hard as he was then the place would definitely run better. The food was delicious as always but the service and wait for food needs to improve for me to keep coming back.

Went on Sunday for my birthday meal, there was 8 of us. The 2 people who served us seem to have no clue, kept having to 'go and ask'. The food was nice but the place didn't have the atmosphere I'm used to...I've been going since the 80's. I've another visit planned for the 20th but will probably rethink.

The food was really good but the portion sizes are way too big!! Shockingly so, felt so guilty with the amount that we couldn’t eat and went to waste, 1 meal was enough to feed 2/3 people. Some of the staff were brilliant, others were clearly stressed and that came across when we asked for things, the responses were abrupt and slightly rude which was annoying to say the least! Service is key to me when considering returning somewhere for food so they need to work on that, hopefully if we return they will have had a team talk and established that regardless of how busy they are manners are crucial!

I'm quite a regular at Oscars however, this time I was a little disappointed. We ordered our meals which were advertised to come with mushrooms. My meal arrived without mushrooms. I pointed this out to the waitress who hadn't noticed. Then I was offered something else instead. After the meal I went to use the toilet which were out of order. I was directed through the biltmore to toilets that were not in use. When I came back to Oscars a waiter directed me to toilets upstairs in Oscars he couldn't understand why I'd been directed through the biltmore. I was left feeling disappointed this time.

Food was lovely shame about the service needed a table for 9 was told could accomodate 8 but not 9 but managed to squeeze us in although larger tables has 4 people on after us??? Waitress was obvs due to finish was sitting at the bar and not very gracious shame really as portions were huge first time i have been hidden gem never knew it existed 😘

Been to Oscars a few times, went with my daughter today and was a bit disappointed to be honest, waited nearly 10mins to be asked if we'd like a drink, then waited a further 30mins for the food, could have understood if it was busy but there was only another few tables, think customer service needs improvement, the lady did come over after a while and apologise for the delay but no explanation, had to ask for the bill and the younger girl that brought it was very polite and chatty

Think the food is ok but I’ve been in a few times with friends which is fine but every time I go in with the family we seemed to get put in the little room by the kitchen, away from the atmosphere of the place. It’s not like i have a young family. Kids are 19,17,15 and 3 year old who behaves impeccable when out. All the kids have been brought up to appreciate other diners around them. If you don’t want families, just say.

Food was good but not worth the 90 minute wait! Arrived at 2pm & got our food at 3.30! The excuse was that there had been a shift change in the kitchen & the chef had left a load of back orders! Weren’t even offered a complimentary drink or a discount off the bill. Very disappointed & probably won’t be going there again 😡
