The sun definitely had his hat on the day we went to Longleat on our latest trip organised by 'Oomph'. Longleat is right on our doorstep and with the new koalas that have been brought over from Australia, it was a trip too good to be missed. Jude, our driver, took the bus through the safari park, expertly avoiding the monkeys! Residents and staff had a memorable day out and we will definitely be returning in the near future.

Last Friday was Care Home Open Day - a fabulous day full of activity for visitors, residents, friends and family alike! The day started with Trevor from White Horse Pottery showing residents how to use a potter's wheel, before showcasing some of the items he'd brought with him from his workshop. Then, a few lucky residents and visitors had their chance to throw their own bowl! In the afternoon, back by popular demand, the local Rock Choir made the garden their stage and sang to a packed house in the glorious sunshine. Celebrating Arts in Care was this year's theme for Care Home Open Day. Thank you to everyone who visited us and had fun celebrating their creativity!

Harpist, Sam Hickman performed at OSJCT Goodson Lodge yesterday. Sam performed for an hour and is part of The Walter Guinness Charitable Trust. This was performed in the library to the enjoyment of our ladies and gentlemen! All of our residents found it relaxing and peaceful! #OSJCT #CareYouCanTrust

Goodson Lodge have their very own parachute team! The weather was touch and go for a few days before the sky dive. But when they all arrived at 8am on Thursday, the weather was perfect condition. Everyone nervously got themselves signed in and got ready for their induction... the wait was then on!! You had to sit and wait for your name to be called over the tannoy, to then get the equipment on and get ready to board the plane. They were all up and and safely back down by 10....30am. It was an amazing day with lots of mixed emotions... but finishing on a high. Well done to everyone who completed their jump. We are all so proud of you. We have done a estimated figure... and once all the money has been collected in we have raised roughly just over £2000 pounds! The Ice cream van arrived at Goodson Lodge last week! As the ice cream sounds played, residents and staff went out to enjoy a lovely treat from Jeff The Walls Ice Cream, Van Man. Residents went out to order their own ice creams and picked which flavours they would like. It is quite amazing how just an ice cream van can bring back so many memories and start a fantastic reminiscence with staff and residents. The weather held off for us on Sunday, so that we were able to enjoy The Rock choir coming in to perform their afternoon performance. Emma and the group always make a big impact within the home when they arrive. Residents, staff and family members enjoy the sessions and plenty of dancing is involved! Taking to the sky.
8 brave members of Goodson Lodge are taking to the sky to raise money for the resident amenities fund. Four members of the team and four family members will be falling from 10,000ft and 15,000ft on the 20th of June.
Steve the company owner of Steve Vicks International LTD, has kindly sponsored us £500 to cover the cost of 3 skydivers on the day, and said he is delighted to be able to support Goodson Lodge in their excellent work in providing much imaginat...ive care for their residents. One of Steve’s colleagues James Powell has also bravely agreed to join Goodson team in their skydive to support this great cause. We thank them both very much!

Charlie the Siamese cat.
Derek regularly gets a visit from Charlie and also his brother. Charlie has been trained to walk on a lead and enjoys popping into Goodson Lodge.
Derek's daughter Deborah owns these 2 beautiful boys and has spent many hours training the cats. It is always a delight to hear the meow when they arrive. Deborah always takes them for a walk around the home to visit the other residents too. They always put a smile on so many people's faces.

24 days until our brave staff and family members head off into the skys for the charity sky dive. Our just giving page is still open and we are wanting to raise money for the residents. Please can I ask people to share the page and if able to sponsor our brave members taking to the skys.
