We do love a rainbow here at Outhouse East.....Even the tape in our office rainbow themed!

We've had a little makeover! Last week, Outhouse East had a brand new lick of paint and we love it! The purple colour on the door is called 'Purple Pout' apparently, which feels appropriately fabulous! We hope you like our new look as much as we do.

Don't forget, we have our regular Trans Social this Saturday 2-5pm. These socials take place on the first Saturday of each month and we welcome new faces to join in. If you are nervous about attending and would like a chat beforehand, please get in touch!

This story is set in the 90s after a teenage girl (ChloëGrace Moretz) is caught in the backseat with the prom queen, she is away to a remote treatment centre. While being subjected to questionable gay conversion therapies, she bonds with some fellow residents as they pretend to go along with the process...
This new film from Vertigo is released in cinemas across the UK on 7th September. Looks like a very interesting film, check it out!

Trans Awareness and Support Evening- 10th October 2018 7:30pm
We are very excited to announce our upcoming Trans Awareness and Support Evening, which will take place at our East Hill centre. This evening is for anyone on the trans spectrum and their families/friends to come along and meet new people and find support and advice. We are thrilled to announce that we have PC Emma Chapman as a guest speaker.
Born in Essex Emma transitioned from male to female whilst working within... the NHS and Police Service during the 1990s. She was a senior Qualified Nurse, was one of the first trans Police Officers to be supported and was pivotal in developing national internal trans policy. Emma has appeared in professional press and in 2001 presented a report ‘An Interim Working Paper on the Issues of Trans Police Officers‘ in Parliament. Emma has spoken at various National and International Conferences and represented Policing nationally on the Parliamentary Forum on Transsexualism during the formation of the Gender Recognition Act. In her free time Emma still advises on various aspects of LGBT life, volunteers as a Trustee for a charity and also enjoys walking especially in the company of her partner Kristie and her beloved Bedlington Terrier, Captain Harry Dawson.
We hope that you will join us for this event, and please keep an eye out for our other upcoming events in the run up to National Coming Out Day (11th October).

JOB VACANCY- Administrator and Finance Officer
East Hill, Colchester... £18,000 pro rata 18.5 hrs per week Initially fixed term post for 2 years
Outhouse East is undergoing a period of change and growth. The new post of Admin and Finance officer will play a central role in supporting this, ensuring that our LGBTQ+ community will continue to receive a high quality service whilst also supporting a busy office.
You must have a minimum of NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in admin/finance or other related field. The post will also support with the admin of the counselling team and the LGBTQ+ awareness sessions. Good IT skills are essential. This is a very varied role in a busy work environment and would suit someone with strong communication and organisational skills.

This service is provided by professional, trained volunteer students of the Essex Law Clinic under the supervision of volunteer lawyers and clinical teaching staff.
We provide advice on most areas of law relevant to the LGBTQ community, including discrimination, hate crime, housing, benefits, family law and employment.
