👻☠️Circus of horrors voodoo show was bloody amazing I'd recommend this show 100%..very talented artists and a fantastic show at Oxford New Theatre 🎭 can't wait to see you all Again worth travelling to from Torquay..👻👹can’t wait to see you all in torquay next 👍🍾I was pleasantly surprised, as I was expecting an larger theatre, but it was Small & Cold inside this lovely old building,Staff are polite and extremely helpful. But prices of food & drink is expensive🤔👍

User

Won tickets to opening night of Thoroughly Modern Millie, we enjoyed every minute of it, great singing, acting, story, laughing out loud, Hayley Tamaddon was brilliant, left feeling uplifted, thanks for a great night.

User

What a great show.. great drinks service although the que was long, they offered to bring our drinks to our seats within 10 mins which was done. Unfortunately during the second half someone fell quite ill two rows in front of us, during this time there was great staff around who reacted within less than 2 minutes cleared the area, escorted the poorly man off the premises. The first person to respond was Skye, who was brilliant. Round of applause to all the theatre staff on duty on the 16/11/17. Job well done.

User

Went to see War Horse which was absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend a viewing even if you have already seen the movie. Would also like to thank the staff that looked after me tonight when I took Ill. I’m sorry I didn’t get all your names but the two guys who got me downstairs and Julianna who were lovely and helpful. Melanie the Doctor who was watching the show thank you so much and I hope it didn’t ruin your night and the paramedics who do a fantastic job especially at this time of year. I would advise anyone who has a real fear of heights though think twice about booking the balcony.

User

We were at this wonderful theatre yesterday watching our eldest daughter finished 3rd with her school at the Great British Dance Off and during the show another of my daughters fell ill. The level of care, offers of help and general all round professionalism shown by the staff took me totally by surprise. I haven't witnessed this in years in the UK and it was everywhere yesterday. I would like to thank Skye and Stuart (apologies if this is the incorrect way to spell your name) who went over and above to try to help me on so many occasions I cannot remember. Skye, I don't think I have ever witnessed help and offers of help, from you like I did yesterday. You are a credit to the theatre and I want to thank you again.

User

War horse was amazing in all aspects.

The only thing that I would comment on is the tropical heat levels up in the balcony

I also saw Mamma Mia a couple of weeks ago again which was great but it so uncomfortably hot that it was a little distracting!!

User

Lovely venue for shows been to many musicals here, saw Mamma Mia tonight absolutely fantastic probably joint best I've ever seen along with Sunny Afternoon and Dreamboats & Petticoats. Was sad to see a gentleman taken ill halfway through the second half tonight best wishes to him, thought all the theatre staff and the cast handled the situation so professionally hats off to you all!

User

Justin's Band was amazing and my kids absolutely loved it. Specially how friendly Justin was coming out the back stage doors and was happy to have a photo taken with my kids. Very happy mummy. Would be good to see more shows at this theatre for the children. Would highly recommend.

User

I visited Oxford for the first time this weekend and went to the theatre twice - once for Rob Brydon (Friday, 6th October) and once for Nina Conti (Sunday, 8th October). Both performers were top notch, as was each member of the theatre staff I interacted with (particularly on my first visit, when a young lady went absolutely out of her way to help me). I am not going to challenge any other review that has scored Oxford New Theatre lower than me, but I did feel compelled to express my personal contentment.

User

I love the show and got to meet the cast yeahhh

User

Great place to watch a musical. Saw Mamma Mia here back in November and have just come back from seeing Hairspray today. I loved itwill definitely be back again soon to see something else

User

Came to see war horse last night with my Dad. The show was absolutely phenomenal, we both loved it and would highly recommend. Undoubtedly the best show I’ve ever seen on stage! The calibre of the performance was sensational. We both had a wonderful night.

User

Saw Derren Brown last night which was absolutely amazing. Would recommend his show!

Few things let it down.

There was a very long queue to get into the theatre before the show even started and it wasn't until we got closer to the doors we found out there was a separate queue for people who had already had tickets. Didn't seem organised at all, someone could have gone up and down the line shouting to let everyone know. Then when we finally got into the theatre we felt very rushed to our seats.

Then during the interval I went to get the group of us some drinks however returned empty handed due to the queues at each bar. I feel more staff should be on the bars during intervals.

Overall not the best experience I've had at the theatre and I've visited and watched shows here for years.

User

Fantastic performance last night very helpful and polite staff. Kenny was amazing loved it. My one flaw as the ladies loos from the stalls was reached by a large number of steps which was not good as I have mobility issues and there were only two. But we will definitely be coming back for more.

User

Went to see Ricky Gervais on the 14th June.

The theatre is a good central location with lots of bars and restaurants nearby for a bite to eat before the show. Staff were friendly and access into the theatre all good. Bar staff were polite and efficient.

Toilets are too small and struggled to cope with the amount of guests. View form the seats where good but the seats are so uncomfortable and hard and leg room for a 6ft 4 giant like myself really poor.

Enjoyed the show and all in all a good evening but needs a bit of a facelift and refurbishment

User

We came to see war horse last Saturday (incredible) The staff at the theatre couldn’t have been politer or more helpful but our view was awful we literally could not see past the man in front of us and even leaning right to one side our views were obscured. I know it can’t be helped it’s the layout and it’s an old building was just a shame and was glad to be sat next to someone I knew rather than a stranger as could’ve made the leaning on his leg to see a bit awkward!!

User

Kevin and Karen Clifton fronted a very entertaining and high energy evening of dance. Our reserved seats (B11 & B12) offered a very restricted view of the stage and a member of staff was very helpful, when approached, and kindly relocated us in much better seats where we had an excellent view of the stage. The show was engaging, offered a great night out and created a fantastic atmosphere. We loved it and will look out for more shows which capture our interest.

User

Went to watch derren brown (which itself was fantastic)

But the experience that we had beforehand was not fantastic.

We had pre collected our tickets the day of the show to ensure we were not going to be late or later than needs be. We were seated at 7.10pm for a 7.30show.

We decided to get a drink and waited 25 minuites to get served by the ONE member of staff serving at the bar.

Of course this made it 7.35 and we were denied acces to the show for 12 minuites. Apparently we hadn't missed any of the show so said the on duty manager. But clearly we had......12 minuites

We were so annoyed we asked to get a refund (we could of re booked for another night to see the WHOLE show) but were refused that also!

Will never visit again and would certainly not recommend

There should be clear rules and clear notice of such policies. We were NOT late and due to lack of pretty much everything missed some of the show!!!!

Beware to all x

User

Went to 'Thriller Live' on Saturday 22nd Sept, afternoon performance. Amazing performance by all. Fantastic tribute to the great MJ x.

My complaint is in respect of ONT security and management and their failure to deal with the issues below.

The show was spoiled by a group of very drunk women in the front row (who had a kid in tow). They were arguing with ONT staff from before the start of show regarding their seat allocation. Then i think they thought when the lights went down that it was 'anything goes' through the rest of the show. Jumping up, standing (in stalls) in front of the rest of us behind, screaming and shouting through most songs, swigging out of their own halfsize bottles of spirits, topping up bottles of coke with spirits, and becoming more and more drunk as show progessed. General idiotic behaviour throughout. Very distracting as they were at very front so all could see them acting like idiots.

Noticed ONT security going back and forth a number of times and asking them to calm down, this had no improvement on their behaviour and should have led to them being ejected, but no!! Then at interval (ideal opportunity to eject them) ONT management come out to 'sort out the issue' and end up wimping out and allowing them to be talked round by a bunch of clearly pi&&ed up women, and ending in bringing in more alcohol for them!!??!!

No one minds a laugh, a sing a long, a dance, and enjoying oneself when watching a show. But there is a limit. And getting pi&&ed up at an afternoon performance, and acting like a bunch of thugs/idiots throughout, crosses said limit and needs to be challenged by a ONT manager with a backbone.
