Dear Parent/Carer
I should like to thank you all for your support during this morning’s unexpected events. Both our parents and our students were a real credit to the school.
In order to update you on today’s events. I would like to explain the circumstances behind the decision made to close the school today. A malicious email was sent to our school relating to a suspicious item. We acted immediately to inform the police and our academy trust. We followed the trust’s safety ...guidance whilst liaising with our local police who arrived at the school very quickly.
Our student’s and staff’s safety is paramount and for this reason, I decided not to take any risk, but to contact parents through the website and ParentMail and to close the school for the rest of the day.
The police and our site staff conducted a thorough search of the buildings, and concluded that the threat had been a hoax. The police are now investigating to determine the source of the malicious communication and we will continue to work collaboratively with our local community officers.
Our school will reopen as normal on Monday 26th March. Once again thank you for your understanding and for your continued support.

Dear Parents/Carers We have followed our internal policies and the advice of the CfBT Trust and Thames Valley Police to close the school today in response to the threat made, student and staff safety being paramount, whilst the credibility of the threat is established. We would like to thank students, parents and staff for their calm support of this process.
We will continue to work with Thames Valley Police for the remainder of today and over the weekend in their ongoing investigation. We will provide further updates over the course of today and the weekend. If you have any further concerns please email principal@oxfordspiresacademy.org

We have received communication from a unknown source with a bomb threat to the school. School is now closed and students are being sent home. We will keep you updated via the website and Parentmail.

Communication is important to us!

The weather conditions are worsening and these are due to continue over night. I am concerned about our site health and safety for our students and colleagues. I am highly concerned for their safety when travelling to and from school.
With all factors considered I am sorry to say the Oxford Spires Academy will be closed to students on Friday 2nd March.
