About Oxfordshire Volunteer Befriending Service - Ovbs

OVBS supports Carers by introducing a dedicated volunteer; who will offer Carers a regular weekly break away from the person they care for.

Oxfordshire Volunteer Befriending Service - Ovbs Description

Volunteers will offer carers a regular weekly or fortnightly break from their caring role, by staying with the person they care for, for approximately 2 – 3 hours.

If a short break is what a carer needs to help them manage their caring role, to avoid disappointment, they need to be aware of the limitations of the befriending service.

Volunteers can find applications located on our website and submit them to Elaine Gilbert (founder of OVBS. All applications must be approved by Elaine in order for volunteers to start their services. OVBS has connections with professionals in the field of the various types of illnesses and disabilities that patients are currently living with. Elaine provides workshops on these illnesses and disabilities so that volunteers are aware of their patients lifestyles and will know how to act when caring for them. Additional research is always optional!

OVBS is a non profit organization that is locally funded. Founder Elaine Gilbert has been helped by many community business in her funding process. Donations are very much appreciated and helpful.
