About Oxted Walkies

Personal and professional: licensed 'doggy day care', home boarding, evening crèche and dog walking, based in Hurst Green, Oxted. Tandridge District Council Licence Number AB21, licensed under The Animal Welfare Regulations 2018.

Oxted Walkies Description

Oxted Walkies is run by Wendy and Nick, wife and husband pet sitting team. We live with our adopted rescue Rough Collie, Harriet, and adopted Beagle, Bella. We have been dog owners for most of our lives.

Oxted Walkies provides a licensed 'doggy day care' and home boarding service, as well as an evening creche, in Hurst Green, Oxted. We also offer dog walking and run Oxted Homeloving Cats, a pop-in feeding service for cats and other animals.

We are licenced by Tandridge Council to look after dogs as well as our own as part of a day crèche and overnight in a home environment.

We also offer an evening service for dogs whose owners want an evening out, without the worry of leaving their dog alone. It's a very small family business, basically offering a surrogate family with all that that entails!

During day care or home boarding, dogs will receive affection and attention as if in their own home, and plenty of exercise in the lovely dog walking areas and fields of Hurst Green.

Dog walks for non-boarders are for around 50 minutes walking time. This service includes dog collection and drop off.

We will never walk more than four dogs to one walker at the same time. Walks are on the lead to ensure the safety of your dog, unless we have express permission to walk off-lead. Walks are by Wendy or Nick, or sometimes both.

In advance of first time day care, evening care or home boarding, we will arrange an introductory visit to our home to ensure that you and your dog are comfortable with our home, our dog and the walking and care arrangements. There is no charge for this. Day and evening care and home boarding are more suitable for dogs that enjoy the company of other dogs. It is important that we are also comfortable that all the dogs will get on and that Bella and Harriet give the seal of approval!

In advance of any first time dog walking, we will arrange a visit to see you and your pet at a time that is convenient for you (e. g. an evening after work). There is no charge for this visit. Ideally, we will do a trial walk. Again, no charge.

We will run through your requirements, collect your key if appropriate, and ask you to run through some details and paperwork, such as providing contact and vet details, and authorisation for me to undertake the service for you.

We will happily update you on progress.

Thoroughly trustworthy, having spent over 25 years working for large, professional public sector organisations, we are now pursuing a passion for animals and transferring our professionalism into Oxted Walkies and Oxted Cat Care. We have undertaken the National Association of Registered Pet Sitters qualification, dog first aid training, and dog behaviour courses.

We are fully insured and disclosure checked.

A survey for users of day care/boarding from the Association of Dog Boarders. Thank you to anyone who completes this. Oxted Walkies do not see the results. The ADB are now part of an advisory body that advises DEFRA.
