Extra agility goes a long way on a Paddleboard, many of these moves can be transferred to the board later. Anyone fancy a dry SUP yoga class?
Check out my website for more details of these weeks classes.
For those paddlers who want to improve their agility on the boards, I am now teaching ( zooming) my classes to adapt to the recent changes. Paddleboarding classes are on the Jubliee or on Maidenhead Sailing Club lake 🏄🏻♀️. Yoga is a great boost to the immune system abd strengthens are lungs, as does paddleboarding! Take care
That was the windiest most challenging beginners class ever. A steep learning curve for all and by the end don’t think anyone was fazed by the gusts. That is one of the great values of a lake, all difficult conditions were presented. You know you are safe and won’t get blown any further than the other side! Well done 👍

YMCA SUP style for the grand opening of the Maidenhead Waterways this morning great fun! #maidenhead #maidenheadwaterways
What a fun morning on Maidenhead Waterways. A great little stretch for people starting their paddling career. Maidenhead Sailing Club new paddlesports members were out in full force promoting our Open Day on 2nd May (for anyone who has not had a go yet)! We littered picked first hour, paddled, played around with some SUP yoga, joined in a sing along and started SUP dancing all in front of Theresa May . Well done Maidenhead completing this first section!
Don't forget next Thursday Evening 7.30pm an evening with John Ashford. This session is about the geology of the country 10 miles round Maidenhead. It ought to be simple, but owing to a weird combination of almost flat rock formations, rolling hills and ice age remodelling it can look awfully complicated on the map. The talk - if it succeeds - should make it easier to understand, and to see the way in which river development has interacted with the geology to produce the ap...parent complexity. There will also be a bit of data on good places to visit and poke around. The time span of the talk is late dinosaurs to last week, but there is a 45 million year gap in the middle.
John Ashford studied geology at Glasgow and then did research on volcanoes, mainly in Arran. He went on to work in steel-making and engineering and got hooked on computers. He has blended geology, computers in information retrieval and (hobbies) mountain trekking and ecology ever since. For the last 10 years he has been a volunteer with BBOWT and he does periodic surveys of the BBOWT Geology special sites. (https://bookwhen.com/msc)
