On a visit to family, I was determined not to let the rain ruin my trip to the coast and country. After a defiant decision to find my way into Paignton town alone I stumbled across this zoo which I'd already heard so much about.

It was a shame it was raining because a lot of the enclosures were closed. However the main safari and tropical like animals were still available to see.

As it was mostly empty and only a few beasts to see, I managed to get hilariously lost and still see every animal in a 2 hour brisk walk. This left enough time to get into town and have a few drinks before losing my way home in the dark! I had a great time looking at all the animals, really fun zoo! 🦁🐒

Best zoo I've been to! Lots of different species, well kept and cared for and with lots of interesting information about them!

I'd definitely recommend coming here with young children, I know I'd have loved this place as a youngster, and maybe fallen in love with some unusual creatures too!

I come here at least once a year on holidays and it never disappoints, the ice cream is lush too!

Fab zoo, I really enjoy it here. Loads to see and do and can easily spend the whole day there. Animals seem happy and well looked after. Some of the staff were miserable (some fantastic too) but thankfully was not there to see them!

The animals seem to be well cared for in well designed enclosures. There are lots of animals to see, as well as a soft play area and several outdoor play areas. There's also a little train. There is a restaurant and there are plenty of snack/ ice cream outlets dotted around the zoo. There are plenty of toilets too. All in all a great day out with or without children.

Great place to visit. Although my visit was during half term and the car parking was nearly full there was plenty of room to walk around and see all the sites. The children enjoyed playing in the parks and looking at the animals. There are plenty of places to sit and rest or eat. The toilets I used were clean and tidy as was the park generally. Seeing animals in a zoo brings mixed emotions. It's sad to see animals confined but at the same time they are undertaking valuable conservation and research to help. My child was given a meerkat feeding experience as a present, but unfortunately it scared her. They are ferocious little things. She was feeding meal worms to them. Their lively nature together with worms going into her gloves was too much for her. I would think carefully about buying one of the animal experiences. Coming face to face is different to the cute cuddly idea people may have when giving these experiences as gifts to children. That said we enjoyed a full day here.

Outstanding! Not just for children but adults too. Excellent care of all animals. Vast area but we'll signposted. Lots of things to do and view, educational with conservation and preservation as its main aim. Very busy in summer but sufficient parking. Food not brilliant and overpriced. Accessible for all but is 'hilly' in parts.

Great day out for kids. Huge variety of animals to see and some lovely play and picnic areas. The annual family pass is excellent value for money if you live reasonably close and will visit several times in a year. Having it means you never feel you have to rush around and cram everything in to get your money's worth. Our 3 year old loves it.

We visit every year, a lovely zoo full of different species, and you can tell they're well cared for. You can hire manual wheelchairs (free) or mobility scooters (£10) for a £20 deposit (and hire charge for the scooter) and you're given a map of the park showing the more accessible or inaccessible areas. I'm disabled and we've used this facility for several years as my health has deteriorated, and the staff have always been really helpful.

Awesome zoo. Many interesting healthy well looked after animals in large natural habitat enclosures. Lions were amazing and seemed to enjoy being looked at. Loved the crocodile swamp. Ostriches are funny. 3 generations of my family enjoyed a great day here. I wanna job here!

Brilliant zoo with plenty for everyone to do. It's quite hilly in places but very interesting and we enjoyed the fact we had to walk around the wooded areas in order to see the most exciting animals.

Food was great value and really lovely. 5 huge ice creams cost less than £10 and two kids lunchboxes plus 3 delicious cream teas were just over £20. All the staff were friendly. As a regular visitor of our closest zoo (Bristol) which is super expensive for food and drinks this was a pleasant surprise.

The gift shop is lovely too and was very reasonably priced. It all made for a really lovely day out with our children.

Dying to come here again, it was amazing. The only zoo I've been to and enjoyed! 100% would recommend to friends and family.

Good thoughts went into the day from both sides. Restaurant was very busy and the limited menu was very nice. We asked for extra red onion and it was done. Shame not a lot of choices

The zoo has a pleasant location, situated in a natural valley. There are examples of many types of animal, but I liked the reptile house the best. The larger animals have reasonable amounts of space with trees and places to retire to when they're fed up with the publicity. Tickets are good value with a free return visit as part of the price.

Was on holiday from Scotland with wife and 2 kids and we visited Paignton Zoo. It's well worth the price to get in. Spent 5hours + and we still didn't see it all. Probably 1 of the best zoo's I've been to. Only problem I had was that the big silver back gorilla wasn't there but over all well worth the money and time for a visit. Good family day out with friendly and helpful staff. Animals were clean and happy so well done all involved who help out at the zoo. Will be back . 10/10
