Last week we welcomed Dr Akiko Sakamoto, Snr Lecturer in Translation Studies and Japanese at School of Languages and Applied Linguistics to our office, to discuss our ongoing evaluation of CAT tools. Her advice and feedback has been tremendously helpful. Many thanks from Paul, Vicky, Inma and the Tech Team.

This week we held a table-top book sale to raise much-needed funds for Leukaemia Busters We're still counting but so far we have collected over £100! A huge thank you to all our staff and fellow tenants at The Quay for their donations.

As a slight detour in our Challenge 2019 programme of events, in March we are supporting Adam Packer’s cycling challenge for Comic Relief. Adam used to work with us and we sponsored him last year. This year he’s doubling-up and cycling 120 miles! Please consider a small donation for his mammoth effort for this great charity http://bit.ly/2EAq0wq

Parallel is pleased to announce that it has chosen to focus its fundraising efforts in 2019 on behalf of Leukaemia Busters, the children’s leukaemia research charity, whose research laboratories have been based at Southampton General Hospital for the past 30 years. Their mission is to develop and improve on antibody-based therapies for blood cancers. Their Founder and Director, Dr David J Flavell recently visited to tell us all about their history and pioneering efforts. To ...coincide with Leukaemia Busters 30th anniversary, Parallel has set a Challenge 2019 – for every member of staff to commit to challenging themselves to try something new, or simply to raise funds for this tremendous local charity. Although no one has yet to commit to the Skydive http://bit.ly/2SwKXgU. Paul is getting things up and running by attempting an alcohol-free January. Will you challenge yourself in 2019? We would love to hear from you if you’d like to help us support Leukaemia Busters. For more information about the charity, visit http://bit.ly/2rpiAFT.
