My friend and mentor Noel Janis Norton has just published her latest book " Calmer, Easier, Happier Screen Time published by Hodder and Stoughton. So if there's tension in your home because of screens, tablets, mobiles or TV, you will benefit from the wisdom in her book.

Have been involved all week with the Boston Haifa connection. Working on the expansion of the Kiryat Eliezer parenting centre in Haifa and initiatives re other parenting centres in Haifa. Very exciting projects. Would love to hear about other parenting centres around the world. What programmes do you offer? What makes the centre successful? How are you measuring the changes attending the centre is making to families lives?

Most parents agree you have to have some rules. How many, is up to each family. But if your child becomes a stickler for rules and hence rigid, how do you teach a bit of flexibility? There are times when we have to bend rules slightly and think out of the box. How do you teach this? BTW clarity about rules when children are young gives them security.

Do you know any-one who's been through/going through a divorce or separation, and is finding it hard to cope with their kid's emotions and behaviour? I'm giving a talk on this in January in Romford, Essex. The talk will include lots of practical coping strategies. Send me a message if you want more details.

Praise your children when they make moves in the right direction rather than waiting for them to complete a task or master a new skill

What do you think? How do we give our children independence whilst still keeping them safe?

So proud to be a supervisor for Parent Gym. See article in the Guardian about CAN Parent for which Parent Gym is one of the training companies. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/…

How much of a free rein is a good thing? This is going to be the topic for the next Parent Gym discussion . So you want to encourage independence but don't want to put your child at risk. How do you keep them safe while introducing independence?

Are you over anxious about your child? Do you wrap them up in cotton wool. I can help you to see how important it is to make your child more resilient

User

One of the interesting discussions at Parent Gym is whether our style of parenting is similar to the parenting we experienced ourselves or do we parent differently? What do you do?

User

Wonderful day yesterday at Parent Gym where I trained new parenting facilitators who will be running Parent Gym sessions in primary schools round the country.

Most of us know we have to give our children boundaries -but easier said than done. working with a parent coach can give you the confidence to clarify those boundaries -and stick to them.
