Went into Partridge Cycles today to get an idea on a new bike (I currently have a 3 gear Pendleton!! Can't wait to get rid of it!), and the staff couldn't have been more helpful!! One gentleman gave me and my partner lots of advice, and I truly felt that there was no question too 'ridiculous' to answer. Although we didn't buy any bikes (turns out my budget was WAY off! I'm now saving for a few more weeks for the 'right' bike!), we left feeling much more confident in out new venture.

We can't wait to properly get going! Thanks again to they guys at Partridge cycles!

We bought our sons bike here last November and they were great then. Brought it back today with a minor break problem, fixed for free in 5mins. Great customer service and we will be back for the next bike.

Me and my husband both bought bikes here today and I can honestly say I can't remember the last time I received such good customer service!! After not owning a bike for well over 20 years I had absolutely no idea what I needed or even what I was looking at! Time was no issue with the staff and their knowledge was just what I needed. I purchased a new Giant Toughroad bike today ,I was looked after by Andy who helped me with all of my little queries and quickly fitted all of the extras that I wanted fitting.Very happy with the deal as I saved over two hundred pounds on an ex demo model that had minor cosmetic damage that was barely noticeable,I travelled up all of the way from Cornwall and it was well worth the effort,many thanks to Andy and all of the other friendly and helpful staff.

Due to my size, I didn't think I would find the right bike for me without ordering one from the manufacturer but made a trip to Partridge cycles last week and within 10mins of getting there I told them what I was looking for and hey presto 10mins later hey presto they found a perfect bike for me. They weren't pushy just really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Anyway bought the Giant road bike, just been for my first ride and loved it, and will be booking up a service in the next few weeks ready for my sportive challenges. Bought an ex-display Giant Liv bike online. After asking for pictures of two tiny scratches, decided it was a bargain and bought it. I have had it a week and still can't find the scratches!

Bought a giant anyroad from you around 6 weeks ago, 4 weeks in the bike had started to change gears on its own whilst riding and the front disc brake was juddering badly. Took the bike back to get its first service which was due at 6 weeks but the bike really didn't feel safe as when the gears slipped the pedals also slipped.... again picked the bike up and took it home (40miles each way as you had a huge range) again gears slipping disc slightly better! So another trip back to you where the first sales guy (Canadian?) accused us of spraying the bike with something which we definitely didnt! Didn't want us to show you how the gears slipped, and said there was nothing wrong, the gears slip because you don't change gear whilst cycling uphill!!!!!!! Wow lol really?!?! This was heard by other customers in your store. So stood our ground... then who I can only assume was your tech guy?? Came out no smile, nothing, and very grumpily said it's your fault you lent the bike against a wall (again definitely not) that's why the gears slip, so he says he has fixed the problem.... we will wait and see.... but after having him and his attitude speak to us in a disrespectful manner we feel we would never buy another bike from you... and also the other customers approached us in the car park and said wow what a load of rubbish.... why can't you change gear cycling uphill!!! They have also said they will never purchase another bike from you! Not a good start with new customers.....

Sadly a very unpleasant and frustrating customer experience that has left us feeling insulted and dissatisfied. Having bought my six year old a bike for £160, when we first got it home the gears slipped. We took it back a week later thinking it could be sorted (albeit early) as part of the free service. The bike also already had a flat tyre which later we discovered was due to a weakness in the inner tube seal. We were presented with a bill and told the gear problem was due to “impact damage”. There was a scratch on the bike near the gears but as I explained to the staff the problem occurred before we took the bike out. We had to pay the bill on that occasion as we were in a hurry.

This week when taking the bike out of the car we found the front brake lever had snapped off! We showed friends who couldn’t believe the bike would break like that. As the bike is less than five months old we took the bike back expecting it to be fixed without charge but again were told that “impact damage” had caused the problem. Another bill, for £25. I explained there had been no impact that could cause such a serious problem. Surely a bike built for a six year old should be safe and strong enough not to break so easily. Both Alex and Ben were adamant it was our fault. Suggesting I suppose that I was lying. Ben then emailed me pictures of scratches on the bike as proof of the damage. There are some scratches but I would expect any child’s bike to have a few. When I said I felt compelled to write a negative review Ben said he would post the pictures online ( presumably to discourage me. I see this is something he has done to another customer who has made the same complaint).

Ben suggested I take my complaint to Trading Standards, which I will have to do. BUT...

Having a warranty that excludes impact damage seems to be a clever way of avoiding honouring any claims. A bike which is so fragile that the brake lever snaps off so easily is dangerous and not fit for purpose. What happened to looking after your customer? Demonstrating goodwill?
