We had a room in the southern lodge with view down the estuary. It was so peaceful

Huge choice at breakfast, very good service and good facilities. We would highly recommend it and will be going here again

User

Thank you to the passage house for making our 1st wedding anniversary so special,we had high tea out on the terrace this afternoon, made our anniversary memorable as we had our wedding there exactly to the date, thank you xx

User

Stayed two years ago and the room service was excellent. So on spur of the moment we decided to go for a meal yesterday. It was so clean and well presented. The staff were excellent as before and we had a gorgeous meal.

User

Our friends and me and my partner stayed there two years ago and noticed straight off how clean everything was

Our room was lovely.

The food and staff were great.

Had a meal last night and found the waiter and waitress very friendly polite and professional.

Always nice there .

One of the cleanest places I've stayed

User

Lovely position, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast and pub next door did great food and the staff here were very friendly. A peaceful area. Would recommend.

User

Had a lovely time at hotel. Rooms are lovely. BEV the bar lady on Sunday night was friendly, had a laugh and joke. Loved her to bits. Chelsea one of the managers was friendly and accommodating too. Would definitely go back. Xx

User

Great hotel we use best western all the time this one was one of their best

Lovely and clean and Dave the barman/breakfast waiter a legend he was marvellous very friendly and nothing too much trouble.

All staff were smiling and it felt a very happy place to be. My daughter and I used the on site beauty therapy service absolutely brilliant. One of the best facials I have ever had.

Its not the most beautiful of looking hotels on the outside but never judge a book by its cover. The views are stunning of the estuary and the hotel is very lovely inside. Definitely returning.

User

Got married here on Saturday 3rd September - it was fantastic from start to finish. Dani was amazing, food was gorgeous and all the staff were great (late night barman was a star) . Could not fault a thing. Would highly recommend for a wedding

Booked 3 nights away with my husband for his birthday. Just had our first night and it’s lovely. We’ve never stayed in a hotel before but took advantage of a groupon offer. We’re staying in a standard double with breakfast included. The room is clean and spacious. Bed is really comfortable. Roomy en-suite with bath and overhead shower. Plenty of storage space for clothes. Breakfast is fantastic with a wide variety of cold buffet breakfast as well as a selection of cooked. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Feeling relaxed and happy, and looking forward to 2 more nights r and r. Today we’re off for a walk along the estuary, great location.

Back again, what more can we say ? If you need a hotel in the area this is the best you will find. We don't think that the staff are trained they are just naturally welcoming. Well done.

User

We arrived quite late Saturday night 19th November. The drive from the ferry port of Plymouth to the hotel was atrocious. Heavy rain and very strong winds

. On arrival the manager was extremely helpful, offered to help me with the bags as my husband doesn't walk very well at the moment. We asked if it was possible to have a sandwich no problem and was delivered to our room shortly afterwards.

The room was comfortable and clean, plenty of tea and coffee to make a drink, and the bathroom was spicy and span. The food was excellent good breakfast both mornings we were there, and the evening meal was superb. Lovely friendly staff and the view from the extension was lovely. Would stay here again

User

Only stayed one night. Good food, good room, good atmosphere, good and friendly staff.

What more do you need. I would certainly stay there again. Thank you to all that work there.

User

Only a one night stay, and the standard room was very standard and plain. Could have done with a picture or something on the wall! Elevated my rating to very good based on the food I had with Room Service last night. Ok, so I only had a burger, and despite three reminders when ordering, the ketchup was forgotten, but just as well, as the meal was superb (and I am a bit of a burger aficionado). The views at the back of the hotel stunning, but I had the reception roof, car park and train line (not too noisy at all). Definitely would go back and make more use of the facilities.

User

Lovely location, beautiful weather made it even better! Found sunbeds outside in a sun trap all to ourselves right by the pool. Enjoyed the breakfast and all the facilities, the one disappointment was no soya milk for my gluten free friend. Would definitely come again - a relaxing break

User

Had some lovely stays here over the years and very reasonable ones. In a good place for exploring in car or by foot. Food good and pub on site brilliant! Thank you!

User

We were shown to our table but our order wasn't taken for ages.

They were very very busy with the resturant very full.

So perhaps this was due to the heavy rain everyone must have decided to eat there.

After main course we again waited 40 mins to order desert, in the end went to find them to order.

At the end of the meal we had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes to pay at the bar as no one there.

The meal was ok and not a bad price this was our 3rd visit but it all took far too long.

In previous visits we didn't have these waits.

User

First off, the staff on the desk when we arrived and our waiter in the restaurant was absolutely lovely. We wanted to tip him generously but you can't do gratuities on card at the hotel.

We paid extra for a deluxe double, but felt like it was lacking in 'wow' factor considering we paid £30 extra for it. The room was bare, and the pillows were very hard. The bed was nice though.

The reason I've given such a low review was because of Saturday night. We hadn't been forewarned about the event that was going on - some sort of formal do/ball type thing - we must have looked untidy and so ended up eating our dinner in our room with our hands. My boyfriend wasn't too fussed, but I felt really pushed aside and it really ruined my evening.

User

After travelling nearly 500 miles. ..we arrived at the hotel. On first glimpse all looking good. Then we met our room. ..the bathroom was filthy...the grout between the bath/shower area was black with mould. The shower head the same. Obviously the room had not been decorated (it was quite obvious) after speaking with the manager we came to an agreement on discount on the room price and the bathroom being fully cleaned the next day. We had little choice as we were attending my father's funeral the next day and I really didn't want to go looking for another hotel. Anyway. The staff were really lovely the buffet after the funeral was really nice.

We won't be staying with best Western again.

User

Distinctly suffering from poor management and lack of staff.

This BW has a brilliant location and is nicely decorated although the room was a bit shabby. However, there are not enough staff for the hotel to function correctly there were massive queues for the bar so much so that we gave it up several times.

The bar situation was a classic example of the poor management. Staff walked past the people queuing without any comment. The two receptionists simply ignored the situation. Even a simple "sorry about the wait" would have been better than simply putting their heads down and ignoring potential customers. In general all the staff were friendly but you had to specifically ask as they seemed too busy.

Breakfast was somewhat of a gamble as despite ordering a standard cooked breakfast without 2 of the items every breakfast was different. Turning up after 8AM meant that the continental selection was a bit hit and miss. It doesn't seem possible to get toast that is not burnt and no-one wants to spend a holiday complaining so a few breakfasts were missed in favour of eating at our destinations.

We only had the one evening meal and it was passable but too be honest the pub food was a vast improvement on the hotel menu which only changes it's few options once a month!

We both like Best Western but there are far better BW hotels out there. This hotel obviously specialises in weddings and suffers tourists and holiday guests. Would I stay here again? No. It may be that it will improve but not unless there is a change in local management.
