The tomato was widely feared in the 1700s, even being nicknamed the 'poison apple', once aristocrats started dying after eating the fruit. The true culprit, however, was the pewter plates they were dining from, which contaminated the flesh of the tomato with lead. Unfortunately, no one made the connection and this humble fruit quickly fell out of favour. Luckily, with the invention of pizza in Napoli, the tomato soon grew in popularity once more and, we must say, we're very pleased for its resurgence. Yes it's the summer and yes, you've got invites to every pub, restaurant and park in the UK. But, sometimes it's necessary to simply say NO, stay in & put your feet up. This week, we have a delicious Tuscan slow-cooked pork ragù, where each forkful will yield rich, meaty strands falling apart. We do confess to adding a delicious, albeit not very Italian, twist, too: a bacon-infused crumb for added smokiness and crunch. We pair our ragù with our fresh, thick pappardelle, the perfect pasta for trapping every last morsel of ragù.

Is there any food as decadent than lobster? This week's ravioli are filled with the beautifully marbled red & white flesh, which simmers away with white wine, garlic and butter. Sat eating my first dish right now and omg I'm in love amazing food and I love that all the packaging is 're usable to my food was still chilled when it arrived in Southampton DPD were great with delivery and provided and hour time slot in the morning thanks guys

Pasta is excellent. Ragu meals are particularly nice. Have been ordering 1 - 2 meals a week for 3 months and have never been disappointed. Recycling of packaging material a nice touch too.

I recently ordered two dishes. And the day they arrived I decided to try the first.



Day1:

Spinach and ricotta rotolo.

I've seen a lot of other reviews making comments on the small portion sizes and as a big eater myself I thought the portion looked a little underwhelming BUT once cooked and eaten I realised that this is food to enjoy the flavours of. It's definitely a case of quality over quantity, and with flavours as rich as this dish was I wasn't left feeling dissatisfied or looking through the cupboards for something more.



Day 2.

Pesto filled gnocchi, again I'd read reviews about the portion size being small and once again the dish delivered on flavour to such and extent I wasn't left feeling hungry or disappointed.



I've already selected my dishes for next week and I'm looking forward to more of this high end restaurant quality pasta.

Have been ordering for a month now, if you choose well the pasta is just the highlight of our week. Portions are fine, we tend to share any ravioli or tortellini dishes between two. Very simple to cook and so easy after a hard day at work. Not convinced on the subscriptions as you need to really always order the gourmet single dish each time, which isn’t always what we prefer. Plus there are always discounts on offer, codes that bring the prices down anyway. Favourites so far are too many to list, just give them a try and have a cold bottle of wine ready. Also if any problems, just call them, so friendly and will resolve it. No point moaning on social media.

Can't fault the pasta, especially the pesto lasagne - the taste was amazing. The cost is the only thing stopping me from a subscription as some of the more simple pastas work out fairly expensive.

Absolutely fantastic- we ordered three different dishes to freeze as we were expecting a new addition to the family and figured it would be handy to have in when time was short. Tried the first of those dishes last night- absolutely delicious. Looking forward to trying the rest and ordering more! Communication with the company was quick and queries answered very promptly. Absolutely blown away with the wonderful food and the service offered by this company , love the way it's packaged and labelled , I cooked it with my Downs Syndrome daughter and we had a lovely time preparing , cooking and eating together. Will be ordering again - think my daughter will be nagging me every day till I do!

Received my order of 2 vegetarian dishes. I was very excited at the thought but when I opened the box I was really disappointed. The portion size is TINY! for the amount you are paying I would expect much more pasta. There's no way this is suitable for a main course.



UPDATE! After leaving my initial 2 start review Alex contacted me and offered to send another 2 dishes with bigger portions. I agreed and was happy I had. The flavour of the dishes was lovely and there is good variety for vegetarians. Although the portion sizes are bigger, for me they are still on the small side. The packaging has also improved meaning the pasta does not stick together. I enjoyed all the dishes received I just wish there was more of it.

My first experience with Pasta Evangelists was a negative one and I left a fairly scathing review as a result. However, rather than be offended, Alex got in touch and said he was keen to make me a believer so asked me to try some other dishes......he provides excellent after sales customer service and is a very persistent guy!!



I tried the Sardinian malloreddus with sausage ragu at the weekend and have to say that I was clearly unlucky with my initial delivery as the dish was beautiful. Full of flavour but the true star was the pasta - I’d not tried that type previously but definitely will become a staple!! Beautiful.



‭Initially I vowed never to order again but I’m afraid I’ll have to eat my words!!

I wasn’t convinced when the box arrived. I thought there would be one portion each (of the same pasta) but it appeared to be a box for one person with two different pasta’s? (Forgive me if I’m wrong). Once cooked, the pasta was beautiful, light and tasty. My other half compared it to something you would get in a high end restaurant. So, I’d definitely try again but the small portions for the price would mean that it would be a ‘special occasion’ box rather than a regular thing.

The quality of the food advertised and photographed is far superior to the food that is actually sent.



Edit: Alex from pasta evangelists contacted me privately and asked me to change my review. He agreed to give me a refund if I changed my review so although I would give the quality of the food 1* I have raised my review based on their good customer service.

I tried two dishes. The gourmet mac and cheese with truffle and the homemade spaghetti and nonna's Meatballs. The mac and cheese was fabulous. One of the best mac and cheese's I've ever tasted! The meatballs.... were vial. It had absolutely no taste to it and was just a watery, bland mess. Unless they bring back the mac, I wouldn't bother ordering another box as it's too pricey to risk getting something that awful again.

received my first and last order when i should of so delivery was fine but the two pasta dishes, well your better off going to waitrose and getting MUCH better quality and tasting pasta,



1, Handmade Prawn & Asparagus Caramelle with a Crustacean Bisque

not the best at all, tastes more like the smell of stale fish but bland at the same time, ate 1 piece of pasta the rest went in the bin



2,Pici with Pachino Tomato Sauce & Fresh Ricotta

this dish was eaten but nothin special at all quite bland,



both dishes sounded better than tasted and the so called celeb endorsements are just to part you with your money



go to waitrose and buy fresh pasta and fresh pasta sauce and its half the cost and much nicer,

To be honest, I was excited for this meal all week, after browsing through the meals on offer last week.



I picked two for my boyfriend and I’s date night, parpadelle duck ragu and truffle butter ravioli.



When it arrived I felt very disappointed, about four pieces of ravioli and the what looked like a bag of tomato soup with some veg in (far from the rich dark meaty, ragu in the picture) - god knows how long the meat has been sitting there.



Also there’s actually barely any meat at all, I’d even say no meat. So DONT bother ordering and ragu dishes.



The portions were tiny (especially for a mad £11 for the ravioli) and the ragu tasted and looked like something I’d make at home in 10 minutes.



A total let down of a date night and had to run out and buy more food to eat with the meal.

The food turns up through the post - not cold, but not warm. You've sent seafood & meat through the post and I've no idea if it's ok to eat or not? How long has it been unchilled for?



You never answer your phone - it's a mobile number and you never answer it and there's no option to leave a message?? I don't know if our order is safe to eat.



You've only sent 4 of our 6 products - and i can't get hold of anyone in the company as you don't answer your phone.
