7 Day Pilates Challenge Day 4 - Rolling like a Ball
Sit on your mat and clasp your hands over your shins and above the ankle.
... Lower your shoulders, widen your back, contract your abdominals and flex your spine. Don't tuck your head; your neck is part of the long curve.
Raise your feet off the mat and balance on—or just behind—your sit bones. This is a balance challenge.
Inhale: Roll back on your inhale. Roll only to the shoulders. Do not roll onto your neck.
Exhale: Maintain a C shape spine. Use your exhale and abdominals to return to the start position with your feet off the mat and balance on—or just behind—your sit bones.

Pilates can change your ending ............

7 day Pilates challenge. Today’s challenge is the Hundred.
To Start: Lie flat on a mat with your legs squeezed together and long, strong arms by your side.
... The Posture: Lift both legs a few inches off the mat, squeezing your buttocks, and scoop your abs. Make sure to engage your “powerhouse muscles,” which includes your abdominals, low-back and pelvic floor muscles and your glutes. Assess yourself: When you lift your legs off the mat can you feel the lift coming from those powerhouse muscles or is it defaulting to the hip joints? See if you can change the way you lift your legs to originate from your abs and the squeeze of your glutes.
The Action: Raise your arms, reach them forward over your thighs and pump your arms up and down with energy as you breathe in and out. Take a long, steady inhale for five pumps and a long steady exhale for five pumps.
Modification: Start position semi supine, raise one leg at a time into the table top positions. If your neck fatigues lower your head and shoulders.

CLIENT OF THE MONTH - PAULA ⭐️ I have been attending Pilates classes for several years, but when I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s two years ago I realised I needed to up my exercise routine.
I was recommended to PATS PILATES and I decided I would have one to one sessions. So I do 2 sessions a week with the benefit of two different instructors, this gives me a variation in my class work.
... With Pat I do remedial work which shows me that with effort I can still mobilise muscles and joints I hardly know I had.
With Leigh I get plenty of strengthening and stretching exercises that are so important for my mobility.
I look forward to my classes and always leave with a spring in my step instead of the stoop I arrive with! Where would I be without them?
I love Pilates!!!

One of the most common questions: Is Pilates suitable for men?
Read our latest blog on why PATS PILATES think all men should be practicing Pilates.

Pilates is not ‘just’ about strengthening muscles it is also about stretching and using our bodies in various ways to improve mobility.

Today in our 2pm Yoga practice we shall explore Balasana which requires patience, the ability to surrender to gravity and a state of nondoing.

Less than a year ago I decided to embark on an instructor course. One school stood out for me, and as soon as I met Pat, Emma and the team I knew I had made the right choice. With support & guidance all of the way, we benefited from a real guru of Pilates. Pat is inspiring and charismatic, each course day was enjoyable and challenging and the knowledge we have gained is above and beyond expectations. I am now sat fully qualified with an exciting and new career ahead. I cannot thank Pat and her tutors enough for making this an amazing journey.

Just had a taster session with Pat at Pats Pilates after a few years absence from her classes and now I regret the lapse! Pat, and her colleague Lisa, were great fun as well as really informative as they guided us through the technique and the movements. I can thoroughly recommend Pat and her team who have experience and expertise in teaching Pilates

I've been going to Pats prenatal classes for nearly my whole pregnancy (due any day now!) and I can't recommend it enough! I've thoroughly enjoyed every class but more than that its helped me keep niggling pregnancy aches and pains away. I did kickboxing before I got pregnant which I found too much to keep up but I wanted to stay active - Pilates has helped keep me fit and healthy all the way through. I am already looking forward to coming back after my baby is born and trying out some of the other classes. I am definitely a Pilates convert - would recommend to anyone. Pat and her team are excellent!
